That is the optimal thing to do, yes. In a fishless frag tank or similar environment.

Darn just put them in there. I guess the fish will just have to wait for 76 more days to go home. Why couldn't I have read this before yesterday!

Well, just a little update. Last night I was able to get the rest of the fish out of the display and performed a freshwater dip on the two fish that showed signs of flashing and rubbing against the sand. I did not notice any flukes. After that I did the Ruby Reef bath and they all seemed to handle that well. I now have them in the quarantine tank. The two wrasses and the orange spotted goby appear to be really freaked out since I do not have any sand in the tank. If I know that a local fish store treats their tanks with copper should I consider bringing them back since there will be sand in their tanks which will provide a less stressful situation for all of the fish? I am going to start treating with Coppersafe tomorrow once Amazon makes its delivery.

Or you can take a glass pyrex bowl and put a little bit of sand in there for them. Or even a very thin layer on one side of the QT. Some of the Cu will get absorbed and you will have to compensate for that when dosing/testing. But sand doesn't absorb as much as rock. And since you will be using Coppersafe, you have a wide therapeutic range to work with (1.5 - 2.0 ppm).

Chloroquine phosphate has become my "go to" for treating all external parasites: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/chloroquine-phosphate.192309/

However, I also like tank transfer method for treating ich and prophylactic QT in general: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/tank-transfer-method.192655/

I have no faith in hyposalinity.

My quarantine tank is a 20 gallon tank. The directions for Coppersafe says to use 1 teaspoon per 4 gallons of water, should I dose 3 teaspoons today and 2 tomorrow or should I do it all today?

Splitting it up over 2 days sounds like the better option to me.

Just a little update, everything seems to be going fine. None of the fish have shown any signs of rubbing or loss of appetite since being moved into quarantine. I wish that I had a more clear cut answer to what was wrong. It seems as though the freshwater dip and the Ruby Reef bath helped with whatever was wrong.

Humblefish,

Did any of what I described sound like Uronema? With how fast it progressed I do not feel like it was ich. Would Brooklynella progress that quickly? All of the fish are doing well entering into the last week of coppersafe. The wrasse that seemed to have the whitish discoloration looks normal again and all of the fish are eating well.
