Fish Tank Room

I worry about having my sticks too close together and it being a problem once mature (coral warefare). How do we know which can be located near which without future issues? This has already happened to me twice on the frag rack.

I cheat and send PM's to the ppl I got them from asking on best placement options but, truth be told it still happens to me from time to time:(. I do try and give all frags a wide berth on the rack in the frag tank but, only because I have the space.

Love the wrasses and dartfish! Does your dartfish hide much or is bothered by any other fish? I've been "ify" on doing a pair with my pbt (brat) in the tank lol.

That little bugger for whatever reason hangs out in the upper level of the water column, he/she not afraid of anything it seems.

Good to know, maybe I'll invest in one soon :D

My lobo was too close to the icefire enchinata and killed it within a few hours as well as another stick. I should've known better but wasn't thinking at the time. I assumed due to the lobos size it was far enough away. Lesson learned.

@WWC was nice enough to send me recommendations for each frag, along with placement and flow requirements [emoji6][emoji6].

Hey send me that! I gotta almost the same as you. Lol

Every Acropora you purchased is medium-high light. None of them are really deepwater or low light Acroporas. So you can place them anywhere in the tank from mid to high just not low. So I will just give you tips on how to place them according to their structure and growth rates.

WWC Red Shortcake - Fast grower, plates out like an Efflo so put it on the edge of your rockwork
Jason Fox Monster Tort - Extremely fast grower, make sure you put it in a place it will have room to grow and not intertwine and dominate the other Acros
WWC Honeycomb Acro - Fairly new to us so not sure, it is yellow which is a more sought after color so don't let the green ones dominate it
WWC Firebreath Acro - Very nice multi-color Acro should be your centerpiece for the pack
Jason Fox Sour Twist - Fast grower, thin branches, loves light
Mike Paletta Pink Tip Stag - Loves a ton of light, fast grower as well, grows out and thick like a bush or cup shape
WWC Terra Red Acro - High end red/purple Acro, very nice color, don't let the some of the other less expensive ones crowd it
Ultimate Stag - Efflo so grows like a cap, put it in a spot off to the side where it has room to plate out and not shade corals below it
FF Red Robin Stag - Fast grower, make sure it has room to grow
WWC Madman Austera Stag - Another thick branch fast grower similar to the Monster Tort
Paletta Tricolor - Super fast grower, give it room or it will dominate the others
Tyree Rainbow Stylophora - Usually can take a lot of light to get all the rainbow colors to come out, you'll have to experiment
$500 Efflo - Same requirements as Ultimate
Vivid's Rainbow Delight - Mid to High lighting, slightly above average grower, don't let it get crowded by the faster growing green ones
WWC Blue Lightning Stag - Similar growth to the Paletta TriColor
WWC Tricolor - Similar growth to Sour Twist
WWC Yellow Tips - Similar growth to Monster Tort, give it space, grows like a weed but has gorgeous yellow tips

Thanks Alex! Glad I put my tyree tri-color on the return column! Plenty of room :)

It's the one on the right side.

I do have one coral that I'm sre is in a bad location. That kind of happened accidentally. I placed an undata top center of a rock temporarily and when I went to move it to a more suitable location it had already encrusted on the rock :( Lol, now I can't make up my mind to move it or not. But I am certain I probably should.

This is how I look at it...
If it looks aesthetically pleasing to me (you) I'd leave it, if there's a chance it's going to harm or be in the way, I'm better off relocating:( it.

you should rename your tank to "Clousimuns of Atlantean"

Hahaha, love it "Clousimuns of Atlantean"! Funny how some people don't like the idea of those columns but when those corals grow out I think they'll have a different opinion lol.

I wanted to attach the undata to one of the overflow columns since it grows much like a monticap. I think I still should for that reason alone. It'll start plating where it is and be an issue for the nearby acros I believe... tank work is never done!

When he says medium to high...what's your opinion of medium? Lets say in Par values...running T5's and the top of my rockwork is about 400-450 per apogee par meter

I'm running 3 x 250w Radiums 20,000k... I'm at 460 1" from the water surface... middle for me is 240 directly under the MH bulb, from what I've been told, they grow out frags under MH, infact when I visited WWC this past summer I know they do... basing on his recommendations I'm going to place near 240 or slightly above that.

How high are your lights off the water, for some reason that sounds low for MH...but i've been wrong before. I'm around 675-700 1" below water surface...running 8 bulb dimmable sunpower...

10" from the top of the tank, and that was when I first took a reading with the old bulbs...

Wish I had a par meter. On my tank i have 6 ati 80w t5s and at either end an added ai sol blue (no led in the middle of the tank) My acros grow everywhere including the middle pretty good. The ends with LEDS + T5s I have to keep most acros mid level except stags. Too much light for the others. My point is, I think most acros don't require massive par but great pur.

I agree, now I'm curious to take the readings with the new bulbs just to see the difference.

Alex...do you have, or have access to, a par meter. If not, PM me.

have you tried the seneye? has a light meter and is no where near the cost of a traditional par meter
