New to the saltwater life, just got my 55 gallon tank going. Last week I added 3 small clowns to allow them to pair up. I plan to remove one clown once the pairing occurs. I am looking to add my next fish as all my parameters are in check. What might be some suggestions to add reef friendly fish that have a lot of personality?

I always thought my Starry Blenny had a great personality. Would watch you with those big eyes and funky eyebrows. He'd perch on rocks and corals and watch you move around the room. The one thing that would always scare me was when I'd turn off powerheads to feed, he'd immediately go inside one of the powerheads and perch there as he waited and watched for the food to come into the tank. I had to be careful restarting the powerheads to make sure he wasn't sitting in one.

Oh no! Starry blenny smoothie would be terrible! They do have great personality though. One of my favs with the groucho eyebrows lol
Hawkfish can be very cool as well. I had a blue spot jawfish that had tons of personality! <-- these can be difficult to keep long term just fyi

My favorite was my yellow clown goby. She had lots of personality and would always follow me:) also they are super easy and cheap;)

Longnose and flame hawkfish are personable and peaceful for hawkfish. Most blennies have great personalities, my favorite are barnacle, stigmatura, and orangespot blennies. Boxfish and cowfish are the most personable fish on the planet, though are not for most tanks.

Plus 1 for hawk fish

I would hold on blennie till your tank is a Little more established make sure you have pods

I like my dimond goby if you have a sand bed

For algae and starry blennies it may be wise to let a tank mature, but not ao with most blennies. Most blennies are quite easy to care for, not being picky eaters at all. And most are bigger algae eaters than copepod eaters.

I love my Longnose hawkfish, he perches on my wrist anytime I'm playing in the tank. Plus they're extremely hardy.
