Yep- they are really decent. Did some quick testing today- output of one is about the same as a viparspectra 165, but these have 5 channels, ramping and dimming, plus run at 93watts according to my meter, vs 148
So i get the additinal aesthetics of the ramping, they are all synched, plus i can run 4 for the same power as 3 of my old ones.
Im tempted to sell my 3 mars aqua and pick up 2 more- standardise my grow out tank (once i add it to the system)
Just waiting on some aluminum framing to put a rail yogether and get them hung up

Mangroves came a day early... not 100% prepped for them... uugghh.
Nice quality though. Starting at 1.010 sg and doing a 150 day ramp to 1.025...

This is under my frag tank wnere the freezer used to be
We moved it upstairs and filled it full of steaks, so i have this little cubby right there. More littler than i thought.
Instead of water im going to put them in some mud and do a saturation tray arrangment. If i size the pots correctly, i can then pick 4 more mature plants in 6 months and plant them directly into the 'planter' section of the grow out tank. At the rate things have been growing, that's right around when im going to need the space . Can use the acclimation period to prune and bonsai the mangroves into a nice starter canopy before they get transplanted

Plan B: proper planting
Im going to do a proper thread documenting this, but jeres the gist- Reefbuilders had an article in september detailing use of a feeshwater planted tank substrate for growing mangroves. The results were extremely encouraging (n=1, but ok)... enough that ive secidwd to plantbthese guys outside, in mud substrate, in a saturation pan... in full Georgia dog day sun.
Bottom dressed the containers woth 1" peagravel, then added 2" of substrate, wet it, planted the mangroves, then topped up woth 4" of substratthen set them in a tote and flooded them to saturation witj 1.010 sg saltwater
Every day, ill swap out 1/4 cup with tank water, and top ip with fresh for evaporation. This will give me a roughly 100 day salinity ramp, slow and steady, and give me a growth boost while they stay longer in brackish.

Hi Peeps Back when setting up my 180 and fihroom, way back in May 2018, i had plans to incorporate a shallow 20Long mangrove tank tied into my main system sump. I got as far as framing in extra studs and blocks in the fishroom walls to support the planned floating 200 lbs of glass, sand, water...

I just stole a few minutes to set my gyre advanced controller to a custom 24 hour standing wave pattern that should better mimic actual oceanic conditions.
this will introduce periods of moderate constant flow intersected with random turbulent flow that travels across the tank in a 4 hour repeat pattern, which slight easing during the night. Every second cycle, the gyre switched direction.
So, for example, my torch should see 6 period of turbulent random flow with an underlying moderate constant directional flow that switches direction 4 times. When the timings intersect, twice a day, there should be minimal gently flow for around 1 hour each

“Standing Wave” mode... aka, destroyer of laminate flooring and cabinet doors, lol
I cleaned both gyres, and noticed that one of them was put back in the tank upside down after the last cleaning (lol). I started the controller and 3 seconds later watched a 2.5” high wave crash over my rim...
Reduced power to 50% and I now have a rhythmic 1.5” standing wave with a 6 second period going through my tank
