Fishy Business aquatics

Please understand that when we question a customer's experience level, it is not personal, but rather we are trying to determine how much they know before we offer suggestions/advice. Some people are totally new to the hobby whereas others may have 40 years of knowledge.

Yes, wrasses are often stressed during shipping and will lay on their side in the bag or during acclimation. The wrasse did not arrive dead, it arrived stressed - that is not DOA. And just because it's lying on its side does not mean that it will not revive given time in a new tank.

YES, we do offer fish with DOA-only at a lower cost with the option to purchase an extended livestock guarantee. We are upfront about this, we are not trying to trick anyone, we just have a different business model than many other online vendors. Many people don't want to pay more for a livestock guarantee, which the competitors build into their pricing.

On our call, you said the fish was still alive and I asked you to keep us posted and if it died and I would see what I could do for you.

I have to agree.. I have had fish on their side in the bag many times and they recover just fine. Just taking them out of a dark box can stress a fish.

I think it is a great Idea to offer individual warranties to keep prices down..

LA prices prices have gone up allot the last few years and their warranties policies have changed because people have abused their policies. People lied about fish dying. People did not acclimate right because they didn't care because LA would replace them..

I have several lfs near me and one offers no warranty and prices are cheaper. The other does and their prices are higher.

That said I would be a little hesitant ordering from someone not shipping their own fish. You have no idea what the fish was like when it left and placing your trust in someone else. I understand why, it allows you to sell way more fish than you could possible have in stock.

Just a quick ask since this thread is active recently.... I noticed a fair amount of the fish pics show someone holding the fish out of water, are you folks still taking pics this way or were these older shots? I'm thinking the holding facility doesn't allow for a decent pic to be taken.

It's no deal breaker and I know there are varying opinions on this, but on some fish holding them in your hand or with anything that can remove slime coat can risk surface infection down the road.

Yes, we should quarantine and I definitely do, prophylactically treating as well. I'm just one of those on the side of caution out there.

Are those pics you guys or shipper? Thanks

Just to let everyone know.....I placed an order with Fishy Business about a week and a half ago, and scheduled for delivery last friday. This is my first online fish order ever so I don't have much to compare it to. I ordered and received the following fish
1. Flame Angel
2. Powder Blue Tang
3. Sailfin Tang
4. Lyre Tail Anthias (5 fish)
I was pretty nervous opening up that box, but all the fish looked to be in great condition. I matched salinity in my two Quarantine tanks to the bags (1.17 in one of the Antias bags, and 1.19 in the other fishes bags To test the bag water I used a blade to puncture a small hole in the bag only large enough to get a small plastic pippette into it to withdraw water, and then taped the hole shut so no air could get in or escape). and floated the bags to match the tank temps. I separated the Anthias from the other fish because I wanted to treat the others with Chloroquine and I heard Anthias dont do well with it.

Anyway.....I started feeding on Saturday and all fish were eating great..and all have settled in nicely. On Tuesday I started a dose of Prazipro in both QT tanks. and so far so good......

Its been a week since I have received the fish and they look really nice and healthy with no signs of stress or disease.

I have been VERY HAPPY with my experience with Fishy Business being my first try at online fish ordering. I will definitely use them again.
