Fishy Business aquatics

With these positive changes, their great selection, and low prices, I decided to give them a shot. I ordered a Bella goby. No one else has it in stock. I sent them an email early yesterday to see if they could send it for delivery today (Saturday). I missed the cutoff on the website but they were able to accommodate me. Great customer service. Great communication as well with several emails and texts regarding the progress of the package. Arrived fine this morning. sg was at 1.018. Looks like the wholesaler they used was Sea Dwelling Creatures. Will report more on the health of the fish later as I have the lights out on the qt to reduce stress. But I opted for stay alive only (for around a 20% discount) and it arrived alive, so overall a positive experience.

Update on the fish. Perfectly healthy. Eats pellets and frozen.

I hope your guys experiences turn good. Personally more competition is a good thing, but this part struck me specifically since our online presence in Canadaland is exceptionally limited.

FishyBusinessAquatics.com is committed to becoming the #1 online saltwater aquarium livestock supplier in the Continental United States (Canada – coming soon!)

Please keep us informed!

Just ordered $200+ from them. Customer service has been great so far. They found a fish I had been looking for and they let me delay shipping. Gotta say the website is easier to navigate than most and prices are very good with a good selection in stock.. Now if the fish come in good I'm a happy boy. :)

I just spent $400 on fish from them.

They shipped out from quality marine in LA!

If i wanted to buy fish from Live Aquaria (which also ship from quality marine unless its divers den), then i would have bought my fish from live aquaria!!!!

kind of ticked as LA fish have been fairly lame recently...petco and all.

Watch the fine print very carefully with fishy business aquatics!

The guarantee is written such that it is impossible to satisfy the terms.

The warranty does not apply to all fish and the fish that are excluded from warranty are not always labeled as such. They are not honoring the warranty on these fish! ( see vendor forum).

I have not ordered from them. I really want another quality vendor, but too many red flags for me.

They ship directly from the wholesaler, as most online vendors do. Sea dwelling seems to be their supplier. I have no problem with this other than the fact they try to hide it.

Good luck and if anyone needs to use their customer service please post a vendor feedback to share your experience, good or bad.

I recently ordered and received a $200+ shipment from them. I did have one fish die a couple days later but they honored the guarantee with no hassle. Yes it was shipped from a wholesaler as does Live Aquaria. Pretty sure it was not Quality Marine though. Packing was not the same. I don't think they hide that fact any more than LA does. I've never seen LA make any mention of shipping from a wholesaler on their site. I'll order again.

Our terms & conditions vary little from those of other online vendors. We don't hide that we ship from a wholesaler just like the other big online vendors. We always honor our warranties if people provide the required, documented proof of the dead livestock. ALL vendors have warranty exclusions on certain fish, such sharks, moorish idols, etc.

Except you do not list all the fish that are excluded from warranty. I hoped it was an oversight on the website but you are now denying a claim after the error has been pointed out.

Everyone can see an example of this. Go to this vendors site. Click on a mandarin and go to the product page. On the bottom of the chart you will see where it is exempted from warranty. Fair enough.

Now go to hippo tang, select tiny size and pick a region. Look at the same chart and you will see there is no exemption listed even though fishy business has stated the tiny and small carries no warranty. It is not listed anywhere as exempt. Not fair. That is exactly what they did to puffy127 on his ventralis and have denied his claim.

Now, it seems they have changed the warranty policy AGAIN. It is now considerably worse than the leading competitor....

Caveat emptor!

well, if it wasn't quality marine it was the same exact zip code.

At any rate, i read their warranty and refund in detail. I did not see anything that said store credit only. Perhaps that was a policy in the past.

The most important thing however, the fish showed up and were as large or larger than i ordered. Good coloration and no noticible signs of distress. The 6" sohol was packed in like 3 1/2 gallons of water which was nice. He is already eating. They also had a very cool automated txt alert telling me that it was picked up for shipment, it was shipping, it was being delivered, etc.

All in all i am quite pleased and would recommend them to anyone.

The leading competitor is owned by a 6 billion dollar company. By that standard, not one vendor selling livestock would exist.

What are you talking about? Petco buying dfs? That just shows what a family business can turn into by treating customers fairly and honoring their policies...

Or are you saying that deceptive policies and websites should be tolerated or accepted?

I'm only involved in these threads with you in an effort to find a vendor who can compete with la ( now petco but previously the family owned dfs)

Since you have decided to change your warranty policies you are no longer competitive and I really have no interest in this debate.

Again, I do wish you well.

Unless you're saying that things have changed in the last hour the tiny and small Hippo's are excluded on that chart.

Lol that's hilarious. I double checked after that post, it has been changed since. It was not an oversight as they were made aware of it a while ago.

This is typical of them it seems.

Not to get sidetracked...

I was very happy with my order, and it can be said, that i am pretty dang particular about my fish and coral. This wasnt some $15 begai cardinal, it was a $250 sohal tang. Live Aquaria wanted $350 for the same size fish.

I was put off that i called and talked to the people in florida and my fish shipped from Cali.. but whatever, I live on the left coast anyways and the fish showed up in great shape.

i would take a picture but they are sleeping.

Seems like the same doubtful person is still attacking this company. Try buying from my local petco, sick fish, probably dead before you get home and no guarantee.
Order from this guy and let him prove you are wrong.
I agree. He's never ordered from them yet has made it his personal crusade to bash them. No problems with my order and will order again.

And you don't have to order from them. They've been transparent and anyone can see that from there thread and are hiding nothing. You've got your point out. You say you not interested in a debate yet you keep attacking a company you've never done buisness with.....

It's baffling to me. You go to most fish stores in my area and once you buy that fish it's yours. If it dies you won't even get a credit. Fishy buisness has made adjustments but is hiding nothing which I like, transparency.
