Flame Angel in a reef

I've had a few Flame Angels in my mixed 90 gal reef over the years and they never have bothered the corals. Beautiful fish and really enjoy my current one.

Ive seen them from 35-80 in DFW I got mine for free from a friend that had a tank leak and wanted out.

I have a flame, lemonpeel, multicolor, Imperator, Swallowtail, Regal and Joculator in my reef.

That's impressive. Looks like your reef is thriving with all those angels in there.

On another note, I've had a flame angel in my reef and he never once touched a coral. If you have the means, one suggestion would be to set up a temporary quarantine tank and test one out in there. I have a small 30 gal frag tank plumbed to my DT and I put any potential problem fish in there first. There's been times I've had to get rid of a fish because they would pick on corals in that qt tank. Also, if your LFS is willing, you could have them put the flame in a tank with some corals and see how he does. I know most LFS in my area will quarantine or "train" your fish for an additional fee. Good luck

I have a Flame and Fisheri in my 125g mixed Reef with Clams, they both occasionally nip/taste at my Pocillopora corals but no real damage. I feed very well and have a large amount of Corals so they tend not to pick at any single colony.

Cheers, Todd

If you have a coral beauty then don,t do it because my flame angel ripped it apart.
