Nice. How did you accomplish that ?

Nice trick. I've seen a few others do similar things with SPS frags believe it or not - I think it was a birds nest of sort. Pretty neat looking. I've also seen one tank that use acrylic and created a fixture hanging off the side. I think in his thread he was trying to get the same look like you have but without the sway or movement if you will. Sort of looked like an ice berg though because some of it was actually out of the water a tad bit.

Anyway nice job - always nice to see something different.

Edit: Nice regal!

I made the MP40 in moderate mode...so it doesn't make the rock swinging.

Fish love this new toy....lol

Pretty cool. You said you used string? FYI, fishing line would be stronger and last longer under water.

EDIT: never mind, I see that is what you meant.

I am guessing the line breaks down at the water-line from salt/drying out etc.
I used to see monofilament fishing line all over reefs in Florida. That stuff seems to last forever in the ocean. One reason I always carried a dive knife so I could cut it off the rocks and remove it.

This idea makes me think of Pandora from Avatar with the floating mountains. Clever idea. As long as the fish know the line is there and don't swim into it then I like it.

Kudos for removing the fishing line. It gets so bad at a local fishing pier that they hire a diver to cut all the line and remove it. I thought the same thing when I saw the floating rock...Avatar!

The line will get brittle but it'll take quite a while before its brittle enough to break. Just make sure the line isn't rubbing the rock when it does move. The chafing will do more damage then the water.

I like how it looks though. Neat idea to add a different look to the tank

I’ve seen similar in freshwater planted tanks and always wondered why there’s not more like this in reefing.

Yours turned out great, looks awesome! Thanks for taking the time to share!
