hi all,

I am getting a constant flushing noise from my overflow. It will fill up over the drain holes and then flush. It repeats itself like that. See attached picture where I circled where the drain holes are below the water line. The pipe into the sump sits below the water line. Thanks in advance!

Do you have a picture from above ? It's looking like your hole drilled in the side of the elbow is the issue, this hole, should be on top of the U shaped PVC pipe and not on the side.

What type of drain setup is This? A herbie?

There is a a hole on top with an air pipe coming out of it as well.

If this is the case there should not be a hole in the side of the elbow where you circled. Only in the top

I did not plum this setup I got it from someone used. You can see below how it’s setup. The question is if it’s wrong how do I fix it?

Are they glued fittings?

Honestly I am not sure. I’ll need someone to help me hold the pipe down on the bulkhead while I try and remove it. They shouldn’t of glued the top piece but I don’t trust that they didn’t. If they did what do I do?

I think I’ve found the issue. My drain into my sump is too far below the water line. I am going to cut it tomorrow and see if it resolves the issue.

How far down in the sump does it go?

You have air and water going down the same pipe. Water fills up far enough to cut off air, water gets organized under full siphon and flows more quickly till it flows low enough to let air in, making noise while breaking the full siphon, and repeat.
If you have a single drain overflow system you can either lower gph from return pump till you get low enough where this doesn’t happen, or do a cheap easy diy stockman standpipe
If you have more than one drain post up some pics and we’ll figure it out
It’s not that the pipe goes into water in sump, or the holes on side of pipe up inside overflow box

Yup, turn dial on the end of pump

Adjust down a lil bit at a time till you get it to stay steady in overflow box

I am going to cut my pipe down then I’ll play with that to make sure I isolate all the possible issues.

Cutting the pipe down will cause noise and splashing in sump, and will not address your current problem

Yup, makes sense. An inch or two under water level is all you need. Many people leave it above the water level, which causes a lil noise and splashing, but not the end of the world
