worse today, the original one in the reef tank is still doing great, along with the yellow frillys and the blue guy in the nps tank.

Sorry about your sponges. I'm not brave enough to try them... maybe one day. That basket star is so cool! Good luck!

I've had the orange one for MONTHS and he's been doing great. if you ever find a good deal on one, try it! just throw some powder food in every few days.

SPONGE GROWTH :D

like I said, it seems the yellow frilly sponge, yellow ball sponge, and blue sponge were unaffected by the temp swing. here's the blue starting to encrust, I've only had it for two weeks.

left town for five days to come back to my poor baby angler dead. ): not sure why, all other corals and inhabitants are looking just fine. :/ really upset. RIP.

Aw. i'm sorry to hear that! Did you run water tests just to be sure?

well geeze. I don't know anything about angler's so I'm no help. Maybe the guys in the predator forum could help shed some light on what caused him to die? If your interested in getting the bottom of the "why" that is.

I guess not, it's whatever. I'll just make sure I do a large water change right before I leave for a few days. ):

Great tank!

Very nice setup!
Did you install the new lights? If yes, need to pay great attention to algae, at 30 nitrates(what phosphates?) they will quickly cover the NPS sponges/gorgonians.

I have to say I've never seen a sponge tank before. Amazing idea. It's a shame you lost several but I'm sure you'll work out the issues and this will be one truly interesting tank. I generally have several blue/purple sponges growing in my reef and I've found they fall apart if exposed to too much light and yet a black one I have is growing on the sand bed in full light. I also have a purple and a brown gorgonian that require light to grow.
