I have used this product a few times with great success. Because some algae seem to need extended treatment (upwards of a couple months), and because the algae dying can cause nutrient spikes, water changes during this time are inevitable. What I’ve found that works is redosing the percentage of the original dose relative to the percentage of the water change. So for example, if you originally dosed 800mg, and do a 25% water change, you’ll redose 200mg after the water change. I’ve found that for GHA and some of the more stubborn types of algae (cladophora, turf algae, etc), raising the dose slightly can be helpful (I’ve not experienced any side effects from doing so), I’ve not gone over a 50% increase in the recommended dose (which is 20mg per gallon, the most I’ve done is 30mg per gallon), but I would recommend starting at the recommended dose, and if after a couple weeks you’re not seeing any progress, you can try upping the dosage. I would recommend removing any carbon or purigen like products, and turning off/removing your skimmer cup for the first three days after dosing/residing. When dosing, I recommend putting a cup or two of tank water in a sealable container, put the dose in, and then shake it for a couple minutes. Trying to stir it, or dosing directly to the tank doesn’t seem to dissolve it as well (even shaking it, there will be indissolved pieces). Be prepared to run the treatment for up to 2-3 months, bryopsis usually takes a week or two, but some algae are more resistant and can take much longer. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
