In my 10g coral QT I found this evil little cuss attached to Zoas. I plan on using F-Aiptasia on this one. Don’t see any others.

Any other things I should do?

I hate to move anything to my DT till I get this nailed.

I am no expert so not sure if it is by damage, release of gametes, or a combination of both. If there is one and depending on how long it has been in there chances are high there will be more. I am also of the opinion that you will get them at one time or another in the display tank. I'm only saying this as I didn't see any in my 40 breeder and my 210 upgrade used 175 lbs of dry pukani. So it wasn't in there but now it is running rampant ;) So...

Manage what is visible. Rest is sort of what is, is not, acceptable risk to manage it.

My experience is to accept that Aiptasia are inevitable and simply add a predator. Use a copperband butterfly or some peppermint shrimp and don't worry about Aiptasia ever again. If you want to do manual removal just know you will never get them all and will have to continue doing it forever.

I’ll probably grab a peppermint shrimp and toss it in the Coral QT with it and see what happens.

Peppermint shrimp are great but can be opportunistic. I would start with F-Aiptasia and then observe the tank to see what happens. Good luck!

Following as my Zoa frag has the same thing. Been trying to superglue over that one but it keeps escaping the grips.

I’d at least inject it. You can use Kalk or the preparations.

I can’t stress this enough, don’t let those things get a foothold. It’s heartbreaking. The predators are great but hit and miss.

How long you had the frag? If its new then remove it and cover it with glue as its probably the first one. Dont assume there are more until you see more. I hate aiptasia I've spend so much money battling them and they still come back.

I suggest you remove the frag and put it in its own little quarantine tank like someone else suggested but in that tank put several peppermint shrimp and don't feed them for a couple days see if they get to it if they clear it out put the frag back in as well as the shrimp just in case you have more in your tank

The Frag is about 3weeks old. I didn’t see the felon till just the other day when the Zoas retracted from it.
This was my first batch of corals for my new tank and the first batch into the QT. as full as that Zoa Plug was of Zoas it doesn’t surprise me a Aptasia was hidden behind it. Hence the QT.

I say we pull a Night Op... And Smoke Those Losers.... You Need back Up... I am There...

Part of me is tempted just to trash that Zoa plug. It only cost me $20
Only problem is there are several nice looking Zoas on it.

Remove the frag and remove the aiptasia manually and cover the area so it has on chance of coming back. Aiptasia will effect Zoas first and I had one come in cheato and mad at myself that I did not manually remove it. If its on a flat surface and you can definately remove it with dental tools or sharp tools. Use glue to cover the area too

Get peppermint shrimp from different places until you find one that goes after them. I’d def QT that one separately but likely you have more as people pointed out. They’ve never been more of an annoyance in my system, have one on my sand bed and one in the sump. May go after them w Aptasia-X next water change but at this rate may just leave them be. Hear some real horror stories though so hope you don’t end up with a stubborn invasion. Good luck.

YES !! I had one and left it a while...then i tried injecting it with peroxide..it survived and within weeks HUNDREDS starting popping up all over...use a laser and burn 'em to smithereens before they make more...
