In one of my tanks I have a dog face and Niger trigger and they both still eat very well but they look like they have a mild disease. I was wondering what you guys think it is? I’m hoping it’s not velvet. Could I do hypo or should I just keep pristine water and use selcon. My macro algae in my tank had a lot of gunk and I had a nitrate spike I did a water change that hopefully fixed that.

Unfortunately Gerald my puffer has died. My trigger is looking maybe a bit better how long until I see some good results on the trigger?

Sorry to hear. Assuming this is ich and/or flukes, you generally see an improvement within three days of reaching full hyposalinity.

Yeah. Darn it. Sorry.

As part of the life cycle of those parasites, they drop off the fish to reproduce. The treatment, whether it's copper or hypo, keeps the new ones from attaching to the fish. So you are just waiting for that to happen. It won't happen all at once, but they will start to drop off.

I haven't treated as many fishes as Jay, but when I have dealt with significant ich infections, spots are usually gone after a few days. Once my fish has survived treatment for the initial couple days, I'm pretty confident that I can heal the fish.
