How long ago did he get the injury on his side? Was that after he started floating upside down? I agree swim bladder may be failing, but I'm wondering if it might have to do with something else. Methylene blue bath might help with toxicity I believe, if it could be some sort of contaminants.

Also, how's his poop? Have you seen any? White and stringy? Was he ever dewormed?

No. Ever de wormed. Side injury is a result of being sucked into qt filter after he was already sick. As far as toxicity goes wouldn't my other fish be sick as well? They get fed LRS frozen food. From what I have read swim bladder disease seems fairly uncommon in the foxface. If they do get it it's usually from flake food that expands in their stomach. I'll try giving him peeled pees and see what happens though.

I agree the other fish would likely be acting strange also if it was a contamination issue.

My guess is intestinal worms or like you said - constipation. I'd try the peas first, and if that doesn't work maybe try some metroplex/focus bound food.

I'll try anything at this point. He still has an appetite. He's eating pellets and eating old pellets off the bottom. Just can't swim well. Still upside down. Wedges himself between rocks so he doesn't float aimlessly around the tank.

Isn't venting pretty cruel? He's not a new fish just brought up from the ocean. He's been happy and healthy in my tank for a few months. As far as venting, I wouldn't know where to begin.

Fish is already not doing well swimming upside down. do a youtube search for venting a fish and you will find tons of posts. I would try it as there is not much left to try.

Some scientists are catching fish and then venting and tagging them and releasing them

Can someone post a link to a good video and instructions? Only stuff I have found is for much larger fish.

Ive never done a fish in my aquarium, ive done tons and tons of larger saltwater fish. It would be the same process, take a very small needle and insert it about an inch behind the pectoral fin. Just barely under the skin

Wouldn't my fish have a swollen area? Mine has nothing like that. He looks a little better but now he is lying on bottom of the tank. Still eats if I get food close enough to him.

Video update. Cautiously optimistic. Just checked on him. Was lying on bottom. When I came in the room he started swimming. This is the best he has been since I found him floating pinned behind the heater. I hope this is a good sign. I'm gonna stop by LFS tomorrow and pick up some prazipro.
