Frag Tank / system build

I received my new heater today. It is a Finnex TH-03005 300WATT TITANIUM HEATER. This heater does not have a thermostat to switch it off an on. This heater needs another source to control that process. I will be connecting this to my Neptune Apex PM1 module. First thoughts out the box it felt very tough an solid with good quality parts. It looks a little small to me for 300watts. I have others that are bigger with less watts.

Nice man. I guess that must be a pretty high-end heater considering it doesn't have its own thermostat, and is designed to go with a controller.

Nothing to crazy but definitely a solid heater. I received 10% off on BRS I think I paid $35. At the end of the day. I had a few glass ones break on me before so I wanted to go titanium. I have one in my living room tank (has a controller on that one) an has been very good to me so far.

Wow it seems like a good price for a good heater, I would have expected more. The tank is looking good man can't wait to see it full of Frags [emoji16]

I also received my Neptune Apex temperature probe to connect to PM1. Right now as the tank sits it has a temp of 71. So I'll see how quick it can get to temp.

That is awesome man, fun stuff!

As I like to build little things myself. I had some extra foamed PVC an made a temp an PH probe holder. It's very simple an basic but gets the job done. If I had magnets I would of made one like that. But I used this style on my 125 an works fine. I like clean straight lines so I made a mount for wire.

I added the heater, it's small compact design let's me put it almost anywhere. I like to have it in my return chamber. As it's a very high flow section an I have my return chamber bring water from the bottom so all water will pass by the heater an right to the return pump. I have the temp probe in the overflow (1st chamber). That should make it very accurate.

Sump is getting there. I still have to get another PH probe. I'll probably go with the Neptune Apex probe. Does anyone recommend a PH probe they use an like?

Very nice layout, looks good. I agree projects are rewarding. And I know what you mean about having a critical eye. For many years I was a Craftsman, in the field of tile and stone work.

Great set up & enjoyed reading the work on all the self build parts. I did that with my 75 and really enjoyed it. I’ll be building a different sump soon though & was curious if you fabricated the filter sock holder or purchase one?
