Frag tanks?

Then let me point this out why my tank cost so much. Once you get taller then 10-12 inch then tank needs a center brace across top. On a frag tank this blocks light and I really hate working around. Now this is why you need 1/2 glass to not have center support brace. Hence the 870$ price tag now
We have other options without eurobrace. At the end of the day, enjoy. No mistakes.

The zoo med tank would been great but at only 10 inches deep you can not have a gyre pump with out it blowing almost straight at corals. I like mine to blow over the top of them. Ive had issues with power heads on the low tanks. From now on I will never have less then 15 inch deep frag tank

Yes now you are seeing it the way I see it. 12-14 would been a lot better.

Currently I only have a 20 long as my frag. I don't mind the 12". The egg crate frag rack sits about an inch/2 from bottom so I've got ~10" above which is enough room for me, but I'm not growing out acros or really much SPS (I've got a handful of Montis, birdsnest, pavona, and an electric lemonade, otherwise mostly zoa/LPS). If I were I'd probably want something a little higher.

Lps is even worse in shorter tank cause again power heads cause to much flow imo but with multiple small ones it could work

In a larger size I can see it being an issue with the larger LPS like torches, etc.

In a small 20 long you don't really need much extra for flow. The HOB provides most, and a frag rack sits in front for the SPS. I've got a ~500gph powerhead on the other end opposite the HOB near the top. Works fine for my current situation/needs.

It won't as my frag system evolves I'm sure.

@Hawkaholic I would go for the botanicare 115g

I paid 180 for mine at a local hydro store but you can get one online for 200 and some change

Then you can run a 150g stock tub as a sump https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/rubbermaid-structural-foam-stock-tanks-150-gal-capacity

Having a 265g system for 3 to 400$ plumbed for another 80 to 100

Then have 3 brute trash cans one for fresh rodi and 2 for salt

But this is the cheapest setup imo

Then you can buy acrylic down the line and upgrade if u choose

Definetely a good option, but will point out unless you can find it local that $200 is going to end up costing you almost double after shipping. Been looking into them myself. Even with shipping it is a price that is hard to beat if you dont mind the aesthetics and inability to see through the sides

the zoomed works very well for me. I also use a gyre pump and thats the perfect flow for my lps on top of eggcrates that sits on 1" legs.

Any good manufacturers?

thanks! Waterbox don’t seem to have what I’m looking for - just a tank, no stand or sump, 4-8ft long, 12-16” tall. I didn’t think it would be this hard to find a frag tank! There is one for $2,000 shipped on eBay that is the closest to what I’d like. Just a bit spendy

Do you have a LFS? Tanks called low boys exist and are cheap.

Otherwise petco sale 40 breeder.

It appears shipping is the same for 1 or 4. Makes it more reasonable if you need multiple.

My LFS doesn’t even have supplies. I’ve never seen a frag tank in the fish stores I’ve visited in a 6 hour radius. So no, the lfs doesn’t have one or I would not be looking! The lowboy is too short for proper flow. The petco tank has much too small of a footprint. I need floor space not volume. Thanks for the suggestions! Since I can’t just pick it up, I’m trying to find what I want instead of what’s available locally. It may be tubs, it may be acrylic, it may be glass. ‍(Idk) it’s more about hitting a price point and functionality than looks.

Just wanted to say that I’m new here. This is my first post. Thank you all for your suggestions and for not crushing me for a dumb question. My research had been fruitless.

Gotcha, they do make stock tanks that are shallow and wide. I have a 2'x1'x6'. Maybe a fleet store near you carries something similar. This is the one I got... the 70g:

I’m in SW Kansas, so something like that I can find! How did you chose to plumb it? Drill holes or go over the edge with plumbing?

Would love a tenecor but very limited options- very little 10" high, don't see any options for a herbie overflow. A 36x24x10 model would be nice
That size is no problem. Actually, it is a standard that we can customize. Please contact us at [email protected].

Does anyone know where I can find a frag tank? I’ve been unsuccessful in my search to locate any suitable tanks. - I’d prefer a 15” tall tank, but 12” would do (x24”x96or48”) Should I just make a tank out of a tub or from scratch instead of searching for glass/acrylic? Thanks!!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!
CADE has two size frag tank sizes that you might be interested in :) :

That’s a pretty system. What’s the useable tank space?
