so my first frogspawn is losing the green tips on its polyps my parameters are ammonia 0,nitrite 0 ph 7.8 to 8.0 hard to tell with the test kit,kh 9 to 10 nitrate 20 temp is 78 to 79.I am running a reef breeders photon 48,only raves to 35% at the peek,and salinity is 34.I am new to coral, and saltwater, any help appreciated really love this coral and dont want to lose it.oh the light is hanging about 10 inches off the water with 90 degree optics.. i need to get a .water change in to drop nitrate.maybe to much light or not enough?

A picture of it may help. Only the tips? What does that mean. The tentacle is there but the tips are gone? Your nitrates are fine for lps corals. Calcium and magnesium are missing. They work is sync with alk. I'm not a led guy so can't answer and the lighting. Also how long have you had it?

If the tentacles were all spread out, instead of being tight together, then you'd need more light. Whats your MAG test out at? Might want to raise your SG to 1.025-1.027. Also, whats your Calcium test out at?

If the tentacles were all spread out, instead of being tight together, then you'd need more light. Whats your MAG test out at? Might want to raise your SG to 1.025-1.027. Also, whats your Calcium test out at?

I dont have calcium test yet or mag,im using reef crystals from instant ocean,and yes opens big and wide during the day and closes up when moon lights come on.

just lose of color but the umm but the end of the tentacle that was green is now losing its color,and i have only had it for 4 days now.

I well try and get some pics up as soon as possible.the tank is fairly new just got done withe its cycle but i am geting the diatoms everywhere and man its ugly..

Sometimes corals will shift colors under different lights. A photo would really help to determine if this is the case or if it is something else.

Frogspawn generally have 2 color forms. Tentacle colored and tips opaque to clear. Or tentacle opaque to clear and tips colored. As mentioned the color part or opaque part can slightly shift color. But a picture will tell if that is the case or something else may be causing it to bleach.

When this one was young in my tank it did what you're describing. Then I stared direct feeding it. I feed it homemade frozen food ground very fine 1-2 times a week. It's now the size of a very large grapefuit with about 20 heads and has great color.

Sometimes they are bi-colored. This one is pink and green tipped.

the tips were all green at first umm maybe it well just change..

Hard to tell in the pics but it looks kind of deflated. Mine actually closed compleyely once and I thought it was dead. Nope. When it reopened it was much bigger and brighter. Broadcast feed over it and make sire it isn't getting too much light or directly in front of a powerhead. The like medium flow and medium light.

I believe, but color just the opposite and the tentacles were like purple and then the tips were green

I have spot feed it with cyclopods twice this week to try and keep it healthy, and i did turn the light up earlier today before work to 60% for an hour and it seemed to puff up more?
