Fudsey's 90 gal build

Kinda discouraged right now..... lost a fish that I examined last night and looked good... All of my transfer fish don't look good, parameters are ok. I'm thinking I'm about to loose all my fish :(:(

No place to put them to treat for anything and all my Cardinals are 5+ yo and that is what I have been told is their normal life span.

If I loose many it might be time to go fallow and let what ever is in the tank die. Corals look really good but fish are the opposite.;Sorry;Sorry

So sorry Fudsey. I lost all 5 of my anthias in a few days. I really don’t like losing fish. I really feel responsible for them and I have a hard time when it happens. I’m pullin for ya.

My last female Anthias is the fish that died. I specifically looked at her last night and thought "She looked good". No spots, eating and swimming around fine. Cardinals (3 of 5) look terrible, fins rotting, cloudy eyes but they did eat. Mimic has Ick I think and I have been treating the tank with Kordon but don't think it's helping. At a loss because I don't have a tank I can put them in and I'd have to tear the tank down to catch the Mimic and I'm sure it would just cause him to stress die...

Last night I was thinking the newer fish (M&F Anthias and Long nose Hawk) all were looking great. I left real early this morning and didn't get to look in the tank like I always do before I go to work. I am just discouraged right now and am venting.... The tank will live on just without any fish for a while

Sad news.... lost my male Anthias and 2 cardinals :(:( I am so bummed right now, I hate even looking at my tank, just makes me sad for them...:(:(

Really sorry man. I have lost 5 dispar anthias and 2 royal gramma. I have no where to put a qt even if I wanted to.

I feel the same way when one of mine die.

That’s how I know you’re a good guy without even meeting you[emoji57]

Well this just blows....

I just watched my Mimic give up his fight :( He came to the top and splashed a few times to get my attention and said goodbye...

I am heart broken :(:(:(

Well my last cardinal succumbed to the disease in my tank. I am down to 1 fish left... :(:(

For some reason, I know not why, my Long Nose Hawk is unaffected. Still swimming around and eating. Too bad he won't touch the NLS Ick Guard pellets. But he is eating frozen no problem. I hope he makes it but even so I'm not sure where to go from here. Pull him and go Fallow for 76 days? Leave him and see what happens? Just no idea what to do... :( :( :(

Now a sad story about my Mimic....

On the night he died, it was around 11 PM and I was sitting here in front of my PC watching TV. When I heard a few splashes coming from the tank. I turned to see my Mimic at the top of the tank, head up. I walked over to the tank and looked down on him and he splashed 1 more time right in front of me then just sank.

It was like he was saying "Goodbye". It was heart wrenching but I now get some bit of peace from it, that he wanted to say goodbye, sort of....

Well guess I'm going FALLOW for the next 76 days... :( :(

When I went to leave the house this morning, I went to put my shoes on, which reside next to my tank. When I did I felt something in my shoe. It was my Long Nose Hawk. Something must have spooked him over night and he went shoe surfing... :( :( Weird thing is, I was looking at my temp when I went to bed at midnight and he was right next to the thermometer. I actually looked at him very closely to inspect him to see if he had any spots.

This tank is fish-less for the next 11 weeks I guess :oops:;Sorry ;Sorry

Bummer dude, and I am sorry to read this. Take a set back and all you can do is try again. This happened to me about two years ago, I lost 5 fish in a matter of two weeks.

I do not QT but I do feed vitamins to help with stress in the system and the fishes immune system and the coral health.:) That is old school reefing;)

Ya @jsker, I am the same way. I did trust where my fish came from, not so sure anymore. There is another LFS that quarantines his fish before purchase. I think I might get my next batch from him instead.

I have been feeding with vitamins lately but I guess it didn't help everyone else. I never heard of a Hawk going carpet surfing before either...

First sign of anything I start metroplex bound with focus to my frozen and the Vitamins. I would do this for each fish you add for a week the cut the antibiotics. Add the fish slowly, no more then two at a time and wait for the bioload to adjust.

Just checked parameters and everything looks about the same

pH - 8.0
PO4 - .187
dkH - 8.68
Ca - 450
Mg - 1440
NO3 - 15

Will have to watch NO3 a little closer and make sure it doesn't crash with no fish in the tank I guess :-)

Weekly parameter tests: Interesting to say the least... Got the same result from my Hanna alk test as last week. I thought I would test again with Red Sea Pro test. I got a very low number( 5.5) so I broke out a new reagent from Hanna and got almost the same( 5.49) .....

NOT GOOD HANNA ! ! ! Old reagent still has 5 months left till exp date....

I thought something was going on as Green slimer looks bad. Not much polyp extension and color is poor. Now I know why...

pH - 7.8
PO4 - .055
dkH - 5.49
Ca - 450
Mg - 1440
NO3 - 10

Dosed some to bring it up. Have to keep an eye on it I guess and see if it improves.....

Fudsey,
Sorry about the low alk.

Do you think the low alk could have had an effect on your fish with low ph?
