Fun little urchin hitchhicker. What is he?

When you do take him for that ride you might want to consider acclimating him back to the ocean for several obv reasons one mainly being water temp and PH. If you just drop him over board the shock could kill him. Also I remove all hitch hiking urchins I find just recently a solid black one appeared and I quickly removed him. When you can't ID the species you are playing roulette.

I already thought about that. I figured while I'm doing my first dive he can chill in the livewell on the boat. While I'm diving my buddy can slowly add the outside seawater to the livewell. On my second dive I'll take him down with me.

He came on a rock that I picked up on one of my local dive sites. I remember the site, so I can take him back to the exact area he came from :-)

Good Idea I just don't trust them if you have a fowlr tank or a tank with out corals he would be cool to have I love to keep hitch hikers if I can I have even found a blastomussa

Nice little urchin. But to let you know If the FWC stops you don't have any rocks on your boat ! it`s no legal to take (live rock ) from Florida waters. The FWC will ticket you .

Yeah, I know. I can't have one baseball sized rock but the commercial spearfishing guys can bring in 1000 pounds of flounder. Go figure.
