That is a blue hippo, not a powder blue. I had one in my 32 biocube for several months as a juvenile and it was just fine. I have since moved it into the 180 though.

Or even worse all the counterfeit stuff now. Got hit recently on some automotive stuff for my Mini. Back to Rock Auto for mission critical car parts :/. The 1 day shipping was nice when I needed to fix something.

There may be other names it is called. In the past it was simply a "Yellow tail Blue Tang".

I know what species it is, that wasn't my question , I just wondered if there was any reason for the hippo name was all, as to me I can't see any resemblance to any hippo I ever seen, and I grew up in hippo country, I haven't always been on this wee island.

OOOHHHH I getcha... lol!! I have no idea how they come up with "common" names. I was thrown off at first myself. As I said, they used to be simply "Yellow Tail Blue Tangs". How and Why they became known as "Hippo" I have no idea. I agree the name is not fitting at all.

That’s the Coralife Biocube. From what I interpret from the history of the biocubes, oceanic was the original, became less popular after the Coralife and JBJ models came out and now Coralife is the most common Biocube.

There’s no amount of gfo that can fix that phosphate build up lol. At least they put a baby in there that “will be moved to a new tank once it outgrows it”.

I own the 12 gallon tank. Don't hate! 3 lion fish, a Betta and a clownfish go great together. Maybe not in your tanks... But mine is magical!

They are 99% labeled as Regal Tang here as well. I think it just depends on region as to what title is used... Dory certainly works in any scenario though!.... especially for the unfortunate ones that get stuck in this cramped situation.....

It’s crazy if you ever go to a big trade show like CES in Vegas. There’s the big players like Samsung/LG in large booths, then a ghost town of hundreds of tiny booths showcasing rip-off Chinese crap (usually phone cases/accessories) on the outskirts.

Pretty much a real life version of ‘Wreck it Ralph’ meets Amazon…

This is exactly why I dislike "common names". The scientific name is what it is and nobody can change it.

If I'm ever talking about fish with anyone, especially if I'm asking LFS's to find something, I will mention the common name but I always put the scientific name in brackets that way there is no confusion as to what I'm talking about or looking for.

This is a good practice. This is one of the few forums I have ever belonged to that refers common names over scientific names. IMO that practice leads to EXACTLY what happened earlier. Alas, I am not in command of such things.
