Looks like it could be. Kinda hard to tell, but it has that "funky Garf appearance" before it takes off. They usually take a while to settle in. One of my Favorites.

well i guess its a good thing i can see them, since its been 2 days now in my tank...

It's tough to tell from the picture and because its small at this point it will be easier to tell once it grows a bit. Here's one I had...

I got a small frag of this which is still smail, only a nub its slowly coloringup and the polyps are more extended and its been in for a few months. Give it time and youll know, the deep purple with bright green polyps is unmistakable in bigger colonies imo.

So are u saying it wont stay deep purple?

Wow thats nice looking,

What do i need to feed this ?

Mine seemed to like higher lighting and moderate flow. Good water quality also helped. It doesn't need to be fed specifically, but my tank was fed with polyp lab reef roids that I soaked in aquavitro fuel.

Thanks yall, guess i just need to sit back and watch it grow,,Is it a slow grower?

no I mean it will get more purple as it acclimates and get bigger, the base of mine is a more green/purple the new growth is a deep purple. The whole colony, if under the right conditions will get a deep purple, all depends on your lighting, flow, and placement in the tank. I have found moderate lighting and moderate to high flow is where mine likes it. It all depends on the tank, and im DEF way too new to this coral to give you advice on where to place yours.

Thanks for the feedback though.

You know, not every bansai is a GARF. GARF is a brand name, like ATL, Upscales ,etc. Unless its lineaged to GARF it's just a plain ol bansai lol.

Well the LFS store guy had a piece about 12 inches round he said it was garf but Do i trust the lfs owner?

i dont know if i should

Without having bought from a reputable source that can give you lineage can't really say if it's a garf, there are tons ones you get out there that look like it though. Even if it is am maricultured or wild caught look alike, it is still a nice coral. :)

Looks like it very well could be. :)

Who cares if it is truly a GARF? If it is a lovely deep purple with bright green polyps, then it will look awesome either way!
