Gem tang stuck in pump...

Well I went to feed my tank and found my little gem tang had his mouth/head stuck in a Rossmont pump intake side. He wasn't moving but I immediately pulled him out. He jerked a little and just floated to the bottom on his side.

MY HEART WAS IMPLODING!!

I said a prayer and reached in and steadied him as one little fin started to jerk. He was so out of it that the current kept sending him right to the corner where my clowns had laid eggs and they began to bite at him, tail whip him, etc. I pushed him away from them. Slowly he begin to regain composure and amazingly enough after a couple of hours fully regained normalcy.

This was about 3 days ago and he is back to himself with no visible injuries and eating like a little pig. I think I was blessed to have just caught this right after it happened. He has been in the tank for several months and never had an issue with those pumps. I am on the lookout for a cover for them.

Just felt like sharing. :)
Man I have the same pumps. I wonder how that happen?

Crazzzy, glad it's doing good now! Maybe he couldn't bare his environment and he's demanding more coral!?!

So glad you were able to save him! I have a hard time losing pets, even a coral. I lost my favorite cat last night to cancer. She was only 10. Her bed was on my desk right in front of my tank. She would love it when I was doing maintenance.

So glad hes ok... .... But maybe he was feeling bloated that day and tried to get the air out of his system...n got interrupted.. Haha.....

I was hoping to see what steps were being taken to prevent this in the future.

God bless you brother. Talk about being at the edge!

I am so glad that your fish is ok. I have to say prayer is powerful. I have a yellow tang and a two spot bristletooth tang that I bought the same day. I had everything ready to do a methylene blue dip before the quarantine tank when I took the yellow tang out of the bag and she wasn't moving. I started praying and put her in the dip to see if that would help. She started moving and I decided to skip quarantine and just put her and the two spot in the dt. I prayed they wouldn't get sick or bring anything into the dt. Neither of them broke out in ick or had any issues. They are best pals. This was 5 years ago and she is the queen of the tank. I named her Miracle.
