Gem tang stuck in pump...

I would send a pic to rosemount and let them see. Maybes it's something that would change in future models. Companies need feedback like this.

Good info for future owners of one as well.

So glad your fish buddy is ok. I know gem tang is one of the most prized fish in this hobby. I would probably had a stroke when I saw him in the pump. Omg.

So glad your tang appears to be ok. Scary feeling and hate to see a fish die due to equipment issues. Something concerned me about OP. You said you "pulled him out". Might I suggest if it ever happens again, and I pray it does not, you unplug the pump first before any attempt to free the fish.

JK couldn't help it! :p[/QUOTE]

Oh man! That's a heart attack!!!

Glad she's OK!

I want one of those Angels ! LOL A fish that costly needs to be in the hands of experts for sure !
Sorry Rev didn't mean to take away from your heart attack ! Truly a very beautiful fish !

I'm glad the little guy is doing fine!

Absolutely! Sorry if that came across as calloused or unfeeling!

When the fish (or coral for that matter) is a dream fish/coral. One that isn't available often, or one you've had to save up and sacrifice for because of it's cost, it is all the more devastating. The analogy would be a distant cousin in a far away place passing away vs your spouse! I know, lousy analogy but hopefully it clarifies my meaning!
I don't know about that analogy. My distant cousin doesn't stop me from buying corals. :p

Well I went to feed my tank and found my little gem tang had his mouth/head stuck in a Rossmont pump intake side. He wasn't moving but I immediately pulled him out. He jerked a little and just floated to the bottom on his side.

MY HEART WAS IMPLODING!!

I said a prayer and reached in and steadied him as one little fin started to jerk. He was so out of it that the current kept sending him right to the corner where my clowns had laid eggs and they began to bite at him, tail whip him, etc. I pushed him away from them. Slowly he begin to regain composure and amazingly enough after a couple of hours fully regained normalcy.

This was about 3 days ago and he is back to himself with no visible injuries and eating like a little pig. I think I was blessed to have just caught this right after it happened. He has been in the tank for several months and never had an issue with those pumps. I am on the lookout for a cover for them.

Just felt like sharing. :)

You forgot to give credit to the man upstairs!

You're not making the mistake of actually telling her what your fish/coral actually cost are you?! :D

(It's a running joke around our house when ever my wife spots a new fish or coral........"$20 something right sweetheart?")

How did a healthy tang get stuck in the pump is my Question. I'm glad it's ok but is something else going on with it?
