Getting a new tank?

For what it's worth I just did the same thing and got a marinland 75 with stand for under $200.

I can not have a sump due to other animals in the house so I chose to go canister filter instead of HOB. Then added HOB skimmer or Refuge.

If you do get a HOB or canister filter get one that is rated for double. The GPH they represent is when the filters have nothing in them. So once you add your biological filtration you get HALF the GPH.

I went with the fluval FX6 for the 75g. It is rated around 950 GPH so that means I'm really getting 450-500 GPH which is a good 6 times turn over. Then include the power heads each around 1150-1350 GPH and HOB skimmer or Refuge and your getting some decent turnover. Depending on how cluttered you want the HOB stuff you can add it all LOL

Just remember with canister filters you have to be religious about cleaning and changing media and pads. Depending on what you use. I pack mine with just biological but that's just a preference.
