Getting zapped by my aquarium

Ok ill do one for you h.depot guy, (Can you cite where they are not required?) Closets, laundry rooms, garages, outside, attics, breezeways, garbage disposal, dishwashers, gas dryer receptacle, washer receptacle, and bathrooms....yeah I can recite a few, good luck out there buddy.

Good luck with the reef!
Could we please keep things civil?

Not mine silly.
Well, wasn’t the discussion about your saltwater filled sprinklers?

The code for all outdoor outlets minus a couple industrial exceptions is clear. Must be GFCI protected and installed in approved enclosures. IE, in an in use cover.

moral of the story. Advocating outdoor receptacles without GFCI protection that get sprayed twice a week by sprinklers is not sound advice.

Outside receptacles do not all require gfci protection unless it is in a WET location
Hi. Respectfully, you are wrong. Article 210.8(A)(3) says all outdoor recepts must be GFCI. Doesn’t have to be a wet location. Look it up. ;)

No it was hacked up by admin, ...no advice WAS givin thank you...

that's for new install what your saying back in the day there were no GFCI's outside or those fancy inuse covers heck they didn't even have ground wires. So I wouldn't advocate anything or tell anyone to do anything, I'd give my 2cents for free tho

Back in the day they also used solder and friction tape for joints. I use to be the main electrician in a highrise building completed in the ‘50’s and had to update the conditions when I found them. Standards have changed since then just like they have with GFCI/ACFI protection.

Maybe, but just to answer your inquiry

Thanks but, I never really asked a question.

I looked it up and supplied a picture of the section and the exception did you have time to verify that I was correct?

If you look at the code reference(s). Said circuit still has to be GFCI protected.

only industrial makes exceptions for no GFCI requirements but have strict rules.

Whats wrong? Panties in a Wad?

Back in the day ( about 10 years ago) when I was managing crews, there was always ONE...at first it was amusing , till it became exhausting. I work on my own managing my contracts and clients now, no more major projects outside of one or two when required that I am used to working with and apply a team approach....I am happier now.

So,,, uhh, I wonder if hilltopreef90 (OP) ever figured out what the problem was.
I just noticed that the thread started last November and the OP hasn't posted at all since that month ... ooops

Nah….this kind of banter is common among electricians when it comes to code. Lol. It’s how we take our frustrations out. :p

You must define a "wet" location. Definitions are in the code book if you have access to one.
What about "Damp" locations? That is also in the code book.

He has no code book. He is pulling things from Google to support his nonsense statements. He has said so.

Thats partially correct. But in this "banter" we have a non-electrician participating.
The code book is specific. Then the have exceptions. So sometimes this does open it up for discussion. But I think in the end you are either following the code book or your not.
There are also a lot of tales. We have heard them.

I told you about my tank. That I had freshwater and a friend of mine told me about this place as I had a question about Fluval light programming.
I will post my license in public here. Master and Contractor. Will you?

Oh that Xenia forest was much larger lol....I have paired it back considerably. And also seemed to find the soft spot in terms of blasting it with some flow.....it hasn't spread in months. Nice. Like me some birds nest had one coming along nicely and then all heck broke loose on a heatwave, and my AC busted. Floating ice bottles , it didn't make it tank temp 84!
