Hasn't a scary moment today . Filling new 75 gallon and water splashed up and hit wall behind it . 5 mins later I smelled something burning cut power. The outlet had got wet and I think that's what, did it.

I emptied tank most of way and moved it and am installing a gfci outlet in the wall. Should this help prevent a.y issues like this? I was pretty worried about my house

I went in a cut the breaker due to the smell. I am letting the plug dry out overnight with power off. Tomorrow am changing it to a gfi plug . Hopefully my lobe sand stays alive. Currently unheated with no circulation in 2 inches of water
