OK i have the Trigger Systems 36 Ruby sump: http://www.aquacave.com/trigger-systems-ruby-36-sump.html

I have my skimmer in first section with filter socks. Refugium in the center and my returm pump in third section to the right.

I just bought a bulk reef supply premium gfo reactor and was going to place it in the return section of the sump where the intake pump will feed the reactor and then was going to run the output line of the reactor into the skimmer section running through a filter sock to catch any fines from the GFO.

Is this a good plan or is it recommended to run another way and why?

In the flow tray second one down. that is were I have mine in a different sump.

I have seen this idea pop up more then i can count. I would like to know what the effect of running a reactor off of your return pump truly has. It seams to me that you would be recycling a portion of the treated water with the GFO and not getting it through the entire tank. Out side of eliminating a pump i see no real advantage to this method other then reducing the effect of what the reactor was intended for.

I'm not running the GFO off my return pump. I'm running it in the return section with a separate MJ-1200 pump which is getting the intake water to the GFO from the return section of the sump and then putting the output of the GFO in the first section which is the skimmer section into a filter sock to catch the fines from the GFO if any.

I have mine picking water up in the skimmer section ( where my filter sock is) and I have it returning into my baffle area because sometimes it produces bubbles. Otherwise it would be in my return section. I'm running the BRS mini reactor with carbon and GFO and a cobalt mj1200 runs it

I have my GFO reactor being pumped from my skimmer section. Then the output goes right into the filter sock of the overflow to catch fines. I have never had a problem with PO4. Yes it is recirculating some water but you have to realize the water going through your reactor will not be stripped of all PO4 in one pass anyways.

I have the Trigger sapphire 34 and my BRS reactor has the pump in the 2nd section and the return going back into the 2nd section. That is the same place I have a 4" and 1" marine pure block. Seems to work well on my setup. Good Luck @fernalfer

So confused where to put this thing because everyone runs it so differently.
Yea everyone runs it differently, it is basically what works better for you with how you have your sump. Either way you put it, it is going to do the job. :-)

Ok so i have mine set up like most of you. My pump for the reactor is in the chamber with my filter sock the dumps into the return chamber and up it goes into the tank to cycle all over.. sound right?

I just don't worry about it recirculating the same water and not have to install a seperate filter for the GfO return line so I just put the out left right in my overflow. I've had ZERO PO4 forever now. I would rather it use recirculate a bit then have GFO dust all over my sump

I prefer putting it in the return compartment with a dedicated pump. The reason is I try to take as much phosphates before using the GFO. The skimmer, biopellets (I know that it will take more nitrates) & the fuge will make their work then the GFO will take out the excess.
This is how I see it but of course you can do whatever you see is best. There's no right or wrong...

OK where does everyone put the output line of the GFO reactor when using a dedicated pump. Skimmer section, fuge section, or right back into the return section where you would be pumping the water into the GFO reactor?

Inside the sump...
That is funny. Better than on the floor. Since it is removing phosphates in the entire volume of water it really does not matter where it is installed. I put the pump in my return section so there is less debris going into reactor. The output into a filter sock for the first day to catch any fines then I remove the filter sock.
