GFO Placement

Here are my thoughts... I want the pump for the reactor in the dirtiest part of the sump. For me, that's the first chamber water enters and also where my skimmer is. My return line is placed one section before the return pump in case and particles of GFO are riding along with the return of the reactor, they will hopefully sink before the return pump section of the display.

That is funny. Better than on the floor. Since it is removing phosphates in the entire volume of water it really does not matter where it is installed. I put the pump in my return section so there is less debris going into reactor. The output into a filter sock for the first day to catch any fines then I remove the filter sock.

Where is the filter sock and output placed? Meaning which section of the sump?

if your sump is set up for filter socks they are placed where the overflow drains into then. I built my sump so they are in the section with the skimmer so they catch what the skimmer does not get. I do not use socks except occasionally like when I am blowing off the rocks. But with the reactor it can be anywhere it is just used to catch the dust and any granules that did not get flushed out.
