GHA P'D off Zoas

This Sunday is day 14 for me. just cant wait to do a water change, clean detritus, add skimmer, gfo and put back the filter sock.

Tank is doing well though.
cool thanks. Yea, get the water changes ready. I did get higher nutrient and dissolved organics.

I read that leaving the GFO in is a good thing to pull out the phosphates when the GHA dies

The concern is we don't know if the gfo will pull out the meds.

@NCreefguy stated in his post that they GFO doesnt pull out the meds. Have people had it get removed that way?
no. I cant read tat wholething. you can leave it in if you want. Ive never run gfo full time. never had to. pretty much did some water changes after wards.

There was a study posted somewhere(might have been in the bryopsis thread) about a city using different things trying to pull Flucon from their water supply and GFO had no effects on it. I believe Randy also confirmed that he didn't think it would either.

eh, a lot of folks reprt that when a species(snail crab fish) are removed they then have a bloom of another organism. But in general a lot of snails wont mow down a forest. I do know a zoa propigator that had a tank full of hermits he dumps(yes dumps) his frags in to be cleaned up, and it does work.

Most wont believe a scrub and addition of snails fixed this tank.
Wow great growth

Just giving my experience. Tried turbo, astrea, cerith, hermits (many types), emerald, urchin... I never saw a single one actually eating GHA.

Trochus (Banded Turban) are supposed to eat GHA. I use my turkey baster to "blow" water on my zoas multiple times a week when I am fighting some problem that has them upset and they seem better for it. Used Salty's toothbrush trick too.
