GHL dosing pump users, sell me on this.

The tube on the left draws the liquid from the containers and the one on the right dispenses the liquid to the sump or tank, depending on your setup.

I have one and use the iPhone app exclusively to control dosing amounts and times of day, etc. I had to use a pc to set it up and it was a pain in the ***. It required updates to the pc (com port) and was finicky to get to connect to wifi. Not sure how much of the difficulty can be attributed to my aptitude, but I remember a small celebration once I got it connected :). With that said, I like it so much I am buying another one for my new tank. Definitely a quality product.
Agree with this 100%. Was a bit difficult to get set up and requires a PC but once it's up and running it is smooth sailing. Control everything from the app and it is super consistent

So my unit just showed. I bought the one in the link but the wording on the box says "stand alone". Is this still the wifi model? Also should I be worried there are no clamps that hold tight the fittings to the tubes?

Yes, that is the right one. Stand Alone (meaning nothing else is needed to control it). I used silicone airline tubing to connect to the dosing head connectors and they haven't come off in 6 months. I guess you could get some tiny zip ties or something like that if you wanted to.

Trying to download the software I'm already irritated. I'm on the ghl site with the pc under "software" and I don't see anywhere to download anything. And plugging in the USB doesn't trigger anything either.

I believe this link helped me a lot;

Setting it up is a PITA. It is however IMO probably the best doser on the market. My only other complaint is make sure you have a strong wifi signal when changing settings afterwards. If you don't I have had it do some weird things, but I don't know that's entirely the unit's fault.

I have the manual but there are multiple available downloads but I'm not familiar with ghl products. In my booklet it tells me to go to the homepage and download the software but doesn't say a thing about what to download for which model! what the heck

Sorry to hear you are having an issue. I do not remember the sequence that I followed to get it set up. Did you join the Facebook site? I think the guy I spoke with is named Vinny and I'll see if I can find a number for you. I wish that GHL would make installation of their products easier for the typical end user. Their products really are top notch but the user experience during setup is crucial to appealing to everyone in the hobby-not just tech geeks!

Yeah honestly I have 30 minutes into screwing with it and still haven't got anywhere. Despite looking like a quality unit I'm pretty tempted to send it back at this point.

Don't give up! It is worth it.

I never trust any company fully regardless of how great others say they are so mixing equipment is the way to go. my GHL doser dumps an accurate 1mL 25 times per day and keeps my Alk stable. Everyone I spoke to on R2R recommend I purchase this one since it was in my price range and having sensitive SPS I consider this along with Lighting and flow areas I can't settle for anything but the best. I test my alk frequently so whenever it is obviously dropping after a few days all I do is go on my phone (SA seems to be for home network only), and increase daily dosing in 10 seconds. So far i've been able to maintain ALK at 8.4-8.7 relatively easy

Makes no sense. Btw I've done a search for the ghl Facebook page and nothing populates in a search.

I'm pretty sure this is how I did mine :

I'll try to find a thread that lists common issues and fixes. Sometimes you have to update your pc.

did you see my post earlier in the thread? You have to use device manager, look for the COM section and expand it, you should see the doser and com# there. Go back to GHL control center, let it say "can't connect, change settings?" Hit yes, select your device and hit edit, select USB and for com port match it to the # in device manager. Hit save, try to connect again. Should work:) then you can set up wifi and all that.

Try this:
