Anyone using this beautiful light? Has all the bells and whistles. Currently an MH guy so not sure how our sticks would respond to this fixture. Thanks John

Following along, I have been studying this fixture in preparation for my 180 build. Big chunk of change, but been struggling with straight LED's. Only folks I have seen carrying them are BRS.

Yes, I'm not sure how the LEDS compare with say. a Radion, but the T5s reflectors are top notch, similar or better than the ATI units.

Don'tm know where you info is coming from but as a former Geisemann lighting user, their T5 reflectors are not even close to the effectiveness of an ATI reflector. They were certainly nothing special. That said the fixture is beautiful.

Thanks for your thoughts, appreciate it. I was going by the similar product descriptions.

Geiesmann
"CAD designed Individual Parabolic Reflectors for each T-5 tube set are made from high gloss aluminium alloy with a 99% reflective capacity delivering increased light transference up to 150% that of standard square type non glossy reflectors used in many alternate brands"

.vs. ATI Product Description

"Individual Parabolic-style Reflectors made from Silver-coated 98% Reflective Aluminum"

We know what brand reflective material ATI uses. Miro Silver.
What does Geisemann use? I'd love to look it up and see what they claim is their reflective properies.

True. I'll try to reach out to Geisemann to see if I can get an answer.

From my research Miro Silver is the cream of the crop. I can't find any reputable reflective material makers that claim to produce a product with greater reflectivity. Being polished does not mean that it has higher reflective properties.

I have sent an email to Giesemann. Lets see if they respond. I would like to know how they got that "99% reflective capacity" value.

It looks to me that their user interface for the fixture is more advanced than the ATI but I've never used either. Also looks like you're using bluetooth to communicate with the Giesemann fixture instead of a control box. It also appears that the Giesemann LED's include a UV cluster. Does that pose any advantage when being paired with T5 (are the corals getting that spectrum from the T5 bulbs)? Can anyone speak from experience on these points?

ATI Powermodule is the top of the line Anoled Miro-Silver mix. Sunpower uses the lower class miro-silver but still over 90% reflective.

Random pro-tip
If you want to keep your ATI Powermodule reflectors in tip top shape for a long time once a year give them a buff with silver polish.

Giesemann was kind enough to respond to my inquiry. Here is their response.

We use Alanod high glossy anodized reflector material. According to the
technical data of the company Alanod and our internal tests this is the most
reflective material on the market. Other than many other light units, the
AURORA and as well our MATRIXX pendants have the T-5 bulbs are mounted with
a distance to the reflector to achieve the best reflection of the T-5 bulbs.

So its the same stuff as ati that's in the powermodule.

Alanod makes lots of different reflector material. Giesemann mentions "anodized reflector material" which is different from Miro Silver. Here is how Alanod compares their different reflector materials.

Mine coming in about a week, switching from Kessil a360we. It's a 2 foot cube, sps up top mixed below. I've been out of the hobby for 5-6 years, traditionally I've always been a 400watt radium guy plus actinic t5s. Personally I find LEDs alone to have a lack of depth, just seem like something's missing. I have found zero user feedback anywhere one the units, but am taking a leap of faith and will keep all posted. The user interface is supposed to be great. Planning on actinic, blue actinic, purple and powerchrome combo. If anyone else has firsthand experience with this unit, please let us all know.

Please do post your feedback. I am probably a month or so out from ordering a 60" fixture from someone. I like the ATI powermodule, but don't love that huge controller box you have to mount or that huge cable, but the fixture is nice.

I have the Giesemann Aurora (59") unit. My tank is only 2 months old, so I cannot comment on SPS or LPS coral growth yet. But, in terms of build quality, programmability, light spectrum, light spread, and appearance it's unparalleled.

What size tank? I am considering 60" for 6' 180G tank. Are the T5 bulbs 80W or 54W. I have seen documentation saying both. Lastly are the T5's dimmable? ATI claims they can't find a dimmable ballast for 80W bulbs go 120VAC 60hz power supplies.
Sorry to ask so any questions but the literature and marketing are confusing and it is $3,000

My tank is 66" long and the light spread is excellent.

The T5 are dimmable but are 54 watts exactly for the reason that the 80W bulbs do not have dimmable ballasts.
