Giesemann Aurora LED T5

My tank is 66" long and the light spread is excellent.

The T5 are dimmable but are 54 watts exactly for the reason that the 80W bulbs do not have dimmable ballasts.

Thanks for the feedback. BRS shows that fixture as 80W dimmable. I emailed and asked and the guy said they were 80W, even though the manual on Geisemann website showed 54W. Love the R2R community!

What size tank? I am considering 60" for 6' 180G tank. Are the T5 bulbs 80W or 54W. I have seen documentation saying both. Lastly are the T5's dimmable? ATI claims they can't find a dimmable ballast for 80W bulbs go 120VAC 60hz power supplies.
Sorry to ask so any questions but the literature and marketing are confusing and it is $3,000

Phillips makes an 80w dimmable ballast but it's $$$.

^^^

They definitely exist and the EU version of the Aurora has 80W dimmable T5's. But, apparently, dimmable ballasts for 80W T5's either don't exist for 120V or are too big to fit into the fixture. That's the info I received from Giesemann.

ATI says they are to expensive for 120V 60Hz.

Got mine, it's up and on. Interface is great, and features are as well. Everything is self contained, just a cord to plug in. T5s still breaking in, but so far so good. I will say as a "blue" fan, I am somewhat bummed that the led board has only four Royal Blues. So I have switched t5s to 3 blue actinics and one actinic. Great unit, but too early to say for sure how great.

@ajax , what size fixture are you running on what size tank? I have a 60" showing up on Monday.

24" on a 24"x 22"x 22" cube. It's got 1 led board and 4 24 watt t5s. I need to reiterate that the color is fantastic, I am just a blue guy. Features and adjustability are great. T5s still breaking in and I'm running under 50% on the LEDs for now to acclimate. But great unit. Software is great, just takes a bit to play around with and become familiar with. Just note your unit ID on the future software is the last 8digits of the id sticker on the fixture, I had to email coralvue to figure that out. Have fun and we can collaborate light profiles I hope.

Sweet, I have the 60" which actually has 4x80W bulbs (seems like there are 54W and 80W 60" fixtures out there) and 4 LED boards coming for my 180 build. Might be a couple months before I can get it up and running, but I am psyched to get it rocking.

Ajax,

I am looking to purchase the 24" model as well. Can I ask how you have it mounted on your tank?

Embarrassing to say, but mine is still in a box in the basement waiting for me to get off my butt and get my 180G plumbed. It's too big (60') to put on my 75G.
