Gimmito's 450 Gal L-Shaped Display

Thanks Brett,

I want to add a few more tru unions on the drains before firing up the water blaster. I'm still waiting on quotes for the light rack rack before finishing the cabinetry...it never ends.

I hope to get the QT up and running so I can start quarantining animals soon. :xd:

How's the bug problem coming along ?

Im not sure how to approach this to be honest. I think Im gonna scrap all the monti's and just keep frags and QT them. Ill have to do this during the tank transfer and clean off all the encrusted rocks. Could be worse I guess

I think you have a good plan of action. Do you use coralRx or Revive when dipping ?

How was vacation by the way ?

Vacation was good, thanks for asking, it takes a lot of patience to stand in lines at disney land with a 2 and 4 year old but we had a lot of fun. I use Revive but I guess thats not enough, just like with fish I always have to learn the hard way before doing what I know I should. For now on everything gets QT'd.

I had a few hours to work on some plumbing. I added some tru unions to the drains (for further ease of disassembly) and finished the durso drains.

I wanted to fire up the water blaster, but I have a small leak where the bulkhead is in the sump. I'm going to have Gen patch it or I'll swing by Tap plastics and pick up a scrap and glue it myself.

I added sand and rock to the 40 gal fuge. I'm thinking of adding sea grass and a bunch of peppermint shrimp. I heard The Smithonian does that in their fuges, so they breed and their larvae feed the main display.

Dang man, your fuge is nicer than my tank. Are the corners rounded? or is it just the pic? Let us know if and when the shrimp breed. I would do that too if it works.

Nice, its always fun to open those boxes. Give us a little review on the Calcium checker, I dont have that one.

I have a old pinpoint calcium meter, which was a bear to get accurate readings. I'm looking forward to the calcium checker and will give a review. I hope they come out with a magnesium and nitrate checker down the line.

Looking forward to a review on this one as well. I almost bought one tonight, but I figured I'd wait to make sure it was everything it was cracked up to be before I jumped on it. Hopefully it isn't riddled with problems like the Alk checker was when it was first released with the faulty reagents....

I got a chance to hookup the Water Blaster HY-16000 pump. It is indeed a beast, I have it dialed down probably 40%. I'll build a manifold to feed the skimmer & reactors and utilize the full potential of the pump. Also, it's quite a bit quiter than the hammerhead, but still audible. The test will be if the wife can hear it at night. :D

My waterblaster ended up being a little bit noisy too but better than the mag pump I had before

I defintely agree it's quiter than a mag and doesn't run as hot. A friend mentioned there's a break in period with the HY-16000, although my HY-3000 is very quit.

Which model are you running ?
