So my girlfriend is quite tolerant of my hobby. For someone who was forced to be interested in pretty sticks at the beginning of the year she has picked out some cool pieces to call hers. About 5 months ago she was the one who decided we needed an Achilles Tang, and it's turned out to be a great fish.

So several months back we were at UniqueCorals for their preview opening and she saw a tangerine Coco Worm. I had a Pink and Red one in my tank before I met her, and had picked her up a Red and white one, but man she wouldn't forget about the orange one at UniqueCorals. So after she asked about it for the 4th time I called Scott up and lo and behold it was still there, just waiting to come to my house.

So, it's still a little shy, and it only open for short bursts. I have a surge tank, and while the new worm is placed below the surge vent, the surge is powerful enough that it goes the length of the tank and all the way back (16ft) and gives the worm some flow.

Here are some pics of the tank from earlier this month

WOW!!! That tank is Amazing!!! Would love to see more pics! Welcome to R2R!!!

Hey Hugo,

Good to see you. Carlos came and visited last weekend. I did my best to convince him to get a tank but I think hes done with the hobby.

Thanks for the compliments, it's actually a very immature tank. It's been set up for about 7 years, but after a couple of issues it sat dark for awhile. It's only been an active fish tank for about 2.5 years, and the corals just started accumulating since December. Finally things are starting to get dialed in and seeing some good growth. Colors on some things could be better, but I am a pretty lazy reefer, so I can't be too picky.

My fish collection is pretty good at this time. I want to add a school of anthias and a group of yellow assesors, and then just start collecting as many cool blennies and gobies as I can find.

For those wanting to see more pics of the tank, I can do a little better... I have a live webcam on the tank. Full Pan tilt and zoom, auto white balance, and 54x zoom. So you can take the time to look at everything you want in the tank. Webcam is at 74.62.193.110. Lights are on from 5 to 1am PST. Surge runs till 9:30pm and cycles about every 90 seconds.

Sexycorals, would love to come check out what you have, let me know where you are!

That is one of the best looking coco worms I've ever seen, really unique color. And amazing tank!

Sweet tank, Welcome to R2R!!!!

I'll have to check out that surge, a good friend of mine had a really sweet one using a powered ball valve and a controller, it was bubble less, which was AWESOME!

Wow. What a great looking tank! Thanks for sharing! I love that gold flake angel!

What a great tank! I'd love to hear more about your outdoor sunlit frag tank, as I can't imagine how that is set up.

Mr E Wrasse - Tank is 96x33x29. All of the equipment is outside, so it sits on unique steel stand which is open with a single post holding the front right corner. The other unique thing about the tank is when I built the tank I mounted flat slab rock across the entire back of the tank. So the back wall is all rock, which gives a nice dimension to the tank. It's 8' long and I can't stand far enough back in front of the tank to get a decent FTS with my camera, so it's always partial tank shots.

Poseidon - I had been running a Carlson Surge Device for almost 10 years. I just converted to the motorized valve, and built the timer relay about 2 months ago. Definitely an improvement in terms of bubbles and noise.

RedStag - I would love to host another Frag swap. Perhaps after New Years, or by spring time. People ask about them all the time.

Texas Yeti - I used to have almost 1000g setup in my yard. All exposed to the elements and corals did great. But then I wanted some of my yard back so I scaled it down. Right now I just have a 250g tomato bin out in the yard which has maybe a dozen corals in it. But I have a 10'x3'x2' trough system, that I am itching to hook back up to the system and start getting back into growing corals in the sun.
