Why do you say that? I mean he probably is. We got him 3 days ago. So he's still new. But I think that's what he is.. the store I got him from didn't even know what they were selling.. and he was not a cheap little fish.
The partern the fish is showing is a stress pattern. It will brighten up to more of a dijon mustard color with brighter blue spots once settled in. In your last pic, it already looks a bit better than the first few pics.

Which would be a blue spotted goby correct? I'm not sure if he's that or a blue lined shrimp goby. He's described so far just like a blue line shrimp goby. But I really don't know. I know he stays where my cleaner shrimp stays. It's not the shrimp he wants, but it's the shrimp he's got. Haha.

Yeah, I hope he starts to warm up to me a little. Lol. Cause I spent 70 on him. And I never get to see him.. and he's so pretty. But I've read they're super shy.. and do better with their shrimp companion.

Noo, he doesn't look like that.. totally different colors and pattern and shape.

And this guy was on the more expensive side.

That is one of the names they are sold by. The latin name is the most accurate one. Many fish have multiple common names to describe the same species. However, if it's called a blue spotted yellow goby, blue spotted goby, watchman goby, jumbo watchman goby, or whatever half dozen other names I've seen it sold under, it's always still Cryptocentrus pavoninoides. They pair particularly well with Alpheus bellulus (the tiger pistol shrimp) in my personal experience. I had a 4" adult male in my 380 gallon paired with a tiger pistol.
