Golden dwarf angel

As suspected and sorry to hear. When in this state , recovery is very very low.
I figured as much but I had to try. Its just crazy how fast that happened. I have noticed my maroons hiding in one spot near the female’s nem so Im wondering if maybe it was them and they are getting ready to spawn. She does look bigger in the belly than usual, however I didnt think they were bonded yet since the male was so tiny and young when I got him. He isnt half her size yet, just under and shes only 3 or so inches since shes still young too

At mating, they can get quite nasty and can inflict a bite to both tank mates and even the owner

I had a regular clown that bit me all the time so Im used to it. I just havnt seen any of the twitching and bonding behavior from them so I assumed they hadnt paired yet and was waiting for the male to get older but could be wrong and that could be what they are doing

He just died

Sorry.

Too late now I'd guess, but I always give a freshly dead fish a 10 minute FW dip and look carefully at the settled dip water with a microscope, just to ensure there were no flukes.

But you still need to take out any material and look at it under a microscope - many fluke species are too small to see with the naked eye. Even with a scope it takes some effort to tell flukes from random blobs of mucus.

Why 10 mins tho? Don’t they dislodge after 3 mins or so, or 5 mins on the safe side?

Since in this case, the fish is dead, 10 minutes ensures you get all flukes to drop off.....

For this trick to work, the fish needs to be freshly dead, flukes will drop off on their own after a fish has been dead for 30 minutes or so....

Yeah I do that all the time in take out black containers. Just wasn’t sure if the 10-min was specific to something else. Thanks
