I’ve had this hammer for about a month was doing well for about a week then started closing up, did another dip in coral rx but still no result. A couple of days later had a major stress event. My power strip tripped at night and my aquarium shut down temp lowered to ~73… after that it started browning even more. I’m not familiar with bjd as I am new to coral keeping but any help will be appreciated. It’s been like this for past two weeks I understand that not until polyp bailout it’s a goner and it’s got two heads. I do have a frammer and another hammer in close proximity that are doing ok.

How long was the power off?
Pics under white light.. can't see much under blue other than it's lost a fair amount of tissue. The shrimp might be picking at some dying flesh.
If it does have a bacterial infection you can try Iodine dip but that has never really worked for me. I use Cipro although in a pinch you can use Chemiclean which is another type of broad spectrum antibiotic.

Is this just your frag tank? How old is it? Seems like a lot of algae development there but your numbers are good. What is the lighting? My tank got down to 68 with power outage and no problems for corals.

I learned recently with some frogspawns that it ain’t over until there is nothing but skeleton. For some reason, they all began to melt, and I lost one of my four frags. To save the rest, I put them into an isolated and sterile environment with adequate lighting and flow. I did repeated iodine dips, and continued this until they stopped receding. Eventually, they went from practically dead to being recognizably corals again.

If you have an empty tank such as a fish quarantine tank, I’d consider doing this. Even the slightest change in environment can go a long way for a coral. Definitely consider iodine dips for all the frags to prevent any bacterial infections from occurring/spreading.

Yea the tissue loss is from fragging they’re not more than a month and a half old. I nurse my frags give AB+ for tissue regeneration but I get you. Power was off for about 8~10 hrs and tank is 2.5 months old I do have extra tanks but I’m really limited for space… so you guys recommend iodine dip? What brand? I know seachem is iodine what else?

The iodine dip may help if there is some bacterial infection going on. The Coral RX is more for pests and parasites. Can't really tell though from the photos.
Not sure I understand when you say tissue loss from fragging. Fragging shouldn't cause tissue loss.

My Kessil was at 50 I thought 100… corrected it so here’s some better pics. You’re right about the fragging, all the lps frags I’ve purchased from lfs had tissue recessions and when I asked I was told it was due to the fresh fragging. Now I know thank you will be having some words with my lfs guy.

Phosphate I see are elevated and Placement is very important for this particular euphyllia as is light and flow. They do not invite bright lighting and best under light to moderate flow. If the polyps are swaying or moving aggressively, flow is irritating them greatly. Always avoid the extremes with hammer- Extreme light, extreme water flow and keep away from nearby coral

They still look the same unfortunately. Power strip incident happened about 3 weeks ago. My a160 is at 10% max everything is thriving I’ve got new growth on a lot of my coral. I think I need to raise mg. I have no way of testing yet but I will have mg and test kit next week. Flow is moderate and I’ve since moved it to another part where flow is low. Still hasn’t died I’m hoping it pulls through. My parameters have been stable for the past couple of weeks so I’m hoping for the best but no bjd right?

My po4 stays around .1, my last test was done about an hr ago it registered .1 on avg 4 tests
