Good beginner SPS

The Tubs Stellata is one of the nicest stick montipora corals in the hobby and it is easy to keep, and hardy too. :thumb:

I would stay away from any acros

ones that do very well in a mixed reef not sps dominated

pavona cactus
digita
birdsnest
porities
montipora

Great call! I have this piece too, but didn't think to list it as a beginner piece because it's a bit more expensive than digi. If you don't mind spending the extra money, you get a very hardy, fast grower that makes a beautiful centerpiece even in a tank filled with "advanced sps."

Forest fire digitata, Tubs' lavender stellata, and setosa are three amazing montis. The first two grow like crazy and do well in most lighting and flow. I think setosa is a little more touchy than the other two, but definitely more hardy than a lot of the acros. But those are the three I would start with (in the order I listed above) if you want branches.
