Good Morning!

Good morning. The dog I’m taking care of keeping trying to play with my parrot. lol I think the dog is bored! One good bite on the nose is all it will take for that fun to end!

Your grey has that “puffed up, PO’d” look. Our grey would be trying his hardest to do some serious damage to that pup.
Hope thy can learn to get along.

You don't need a big parrot to scare a dog or cat. That one bite really sets the house rules. That's too cute!

Good morning everyone. I don't have nothing planned today.. It's like a hidden saturday morning.

I dog sit so we always have a different dog here. Misty, the Africa Grey, is use to different dogs coming and going. He always puffs up when a new dog comes to his cage. I think he is trying to intimidate the dog. lol But he still insists on going to the bottom of the cage to meet the dogs. I always have a meet and greet to see how the dog reacts to my bird before taking a dog. Over the years I’ve had to say no to maybe 4 dogs cause they were too interested in the bird and would not leave him alone during a meet and greet. Most dogs ignore the bird and usually the young ones try to play with him. A couple of my regulars have learned that if they lay by the bird cage that he will throw pellets on the floor for the dog to eat. :D

If anyone wants some and can get anywhere near here, I am happy to give you some. Have a great day everyone!

Here it is:

@Just John ..... beautiful leather .... so so tempting!! You have done wonders in that EVO. Great job.

Good Monday Morning, Reefies....
My daughter is still ghosting me, so hubby and I went to Englewood Beach on Saturday. The red tide was really showing it's damage, it was truly heart breaking. I lost count of how many dead eels, porcupine puffers and assorted marine life were washed up on the shore. The eels really freaked me out, it was like Medusa had gotten a hair cut.
I did spot some cool inverts, though. (Sadly, also dead but cool ... so I took some pictures.) Notes from https://gulfspecimen.org/specimen/arthropoda/true-crabs/...

FLAME STREAKED BOX CRAB, Calappa flammea

A large, brightly colored burrowing crab that draws water through its gills and is often seen spouting it out of its head like a fountain. It uses its scissors-like claws like a can opener to rip open hermit crabs.

CALICO CRAB, Hepatus epheliticus

An attractive red and white spotted crab that survives well in the aquarium. It will normally bury completely out of sight in sand or light gravel but when food is placed in the aquarium it erupts dramatically to seize it. To demonstrate their striking respiratory current, place them in a shallow dish with just enough water to cover their legs and they pump a geyser of water several inches high. Size: 3-6 cm.

I saw this magnificent clam shell tumbling in the surf and I got very wet grabbing it before it broke in two. Then I turned around and saw many dozen strewn across the beach, some still being picked on by sea gulls. Such a sad state of affairs to see. I did not take pictures of the carnage. No one needs to see that before coffee. Let's honor their beauty instead. The Box Crab is especially cool because the legs fold in to create an actual box. They are like little tanks. This was the only one that I spotted. There were lots of the Calicos, however.

I hope everyone has a beautiful week. Prayers and hugs going out to all of our La. reefers that got hit by Ida yesterday and those still in her path. I'm sure that there are a lot of generators buzzing in the Bayou.
Off to work or as my dogs think ... time to earn the kibble.

What’s the difference between a literalist and a kleptomaniac?

A literalist takes things literally.
A kleptomaniac takes things, literally.

Monday always comes too fast! Had a busy weekend of getting crap done around the house and some much needed work on the aquariums. I kept myself busy to take my mind off what's coming in the next 24 hours - we find out the results of my stepmom's PET scan today or tomorrow. She's already in scheduling for surgery for lung cancer, so this is to see if it spread anywhere else I think. We could certainly use some thoughts, prayers, and positive vibes this week. The spot(?) they found in her lower lobe is supposedly small and it sounds like they caught it early at least.

Come on UPS person. I need to do a test fit before the final cleaning.

I wonder if I could trade in my stone crabs for some of those calico crabs.
Gulf Specimen sells them for $17.00 each. The ones on the beach were about 2-3" across. I believe the ones that they sell are 3 cm - 6 cm (~1-2.25") . They are truly stunning up close. That Box Crab was about 7-8" across. He was big enough for dinner.

Good morning.
We are supposed to meet Kirk to pick up Chewy and Dyson at 6pm. Which is right when the storm is supposed to get here.
Plan B would be me leaving this morning to get them but I would have to go all the way there.
Sigh.
I wonder if the little Subaru floats. Some water was never a problem in the truck. Go Go Gadget Pontoons.

Decisions, decisions.
And I need to put the tank back together. At 3:30 the glue will have dried 24 hours.

Yesterday there was this guy with Parkinson's disease behind a big fish tank with a new can of PVC glue. Oops.
I breathed deeply and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds began to play from somewhere. My chest hair is waterproof now.

Good Morning Everyone!
Im here early because I may not have any internet later today. Started dumping rain yesterday afternoon and has not let up yet. 100% chance of heavy rain here all day today.
HVAC guy came early yesterday and checked all the wiring to the thermostat. Everything tested okay so he replaced the stat and we’re back in business. He said in his 40+ years, he’s never seen one flare up like that.
We are finally replacing our worn out, double bowl, stainless steel kitchen sink. I keep it polished but it’s old and scratched. We have a single bowl, drop in coming on Thursday. Dark grey, granite. Also replacing the farmhouse style faucet with a “restaurant style” with pull down sprayer. That arrived yesterday. I’m still deciding if I’m going to re-install/ replace the garbage disposal or just go without one. We never really use it.
I hope you all have a great day!
Stay weather aware and be safe!

I just got back from my morning walk and while I am waiting for my muffins to bake I got a minute to post.
My walk this morning took me through a grave yard and it is very old. I mean VERY old.

Here are some of the tomb stones.
Graves.JPG

The round one in the back I think it is the oldest and it was hard to make out the inscription but it reads something like this:

RIP
Here Lies Orgg. (no last name)

"He was a fine Neanderthal who could take down a full grown Mastodon using his breath alone"

He will be missed. +

Good morning everyone!
