Come on where’s your sense of adventure? You can smoke in winter For my husband’s job we did a 3 year job assignment in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. We arrived over Thanksgiving weekend with 2 feet of snow already on the ground and -34 degrees. Our next door neighbor was outside grilling! He was dressed in a big parka coat and gloves just grilled away. True story!
Good morning everyone! I love cold weather I don't mind long winters, but wow is that cold for the middle of November. I think your winters would be too much for me. Moving to Florida 20 years ago probably hasn't helped.
kids are so resilient. I used to never care about how cold or hot it was outside. Now I'm wondering how I became so sensitive.
I am actually really warm for this time of the year. We were almost 40 yesterday. We usually don't see above 30 from November thru March.
I'll still use my smoker, but the landlord pays someone to plow in front of my cabin and I get about 8 feet of snow right where I store it to use. I just have a very small porch, maybe 4ft x 4ft, so storing it there year round is out of the question. Between the plow truck and the snow falling off of my roof it would be crushed in no time. The secret to smoking in below zero temps is to put a couple of welder's blankets on the grill to help keep the heat in. It can still be very hard to get the temps up above 300, sometimes 250 is a challenge.
