Good Morning!

This morning like all mornings I took a walk on the beach behind my house. I walked east which is where no man has ever gone before. Well, no modern man.

After a few hours (10 minutes) I came across hieroglyphics from the distant past. I see these occasionally from the pleasicone era. (last Tuesday)

Now I was excited so I kept walking knowing that I had no food or water to drink and no weapon.

After a while I came across this burial mound.

From all the dead horseshoe crabs I assumed that that arthropod was somehow connected to their funeral rites.

Now I was so excited I kept going into the sunrise.

I came across this obvious love or mating ritual inscribed into the sand

Now it was time to head back to the stairs that lead to the stairs to get back to civilization. And make breakfast for my wife. :)

Morning Friends!
Another smokin‘ hot day today but rain ( we shall see) this afternoon.
Ive been noticing a little creaking noise when walking across our upper back deck. Upon close inspection, I found some decking that is pulling up in one small area. I didn’t think that would be possible because all decking is SCREWED down with 3” screws. Well, the Carpenter Bees have completely eaten through one of the joists. This is going to be a fun (NOT) repair job. We have traps under the deck and I even put pheromones in them to attract the bees but there are sooooooo many of them here. When we bought the house, we couldn’t walk on the deck because the previous owner built it himself and didn’t use treated lumber AND attached all of the deck boards with 8 penny nails and they were all pulled out and rotting. I re-decked it and inspected the framework about 4 years ago. Always something to keep this old man busy!

good morning all... :) have a great day...:)

@sp1187 hey mike, not sure if your going watchdog battery back up?
same here high water table, seeping bsmt when 2+ inches rain in 24 ..etc,
i cut hole in lowest point "house built 1911" put in 36" deep pit ,drilled x 1/2" holes 4" below top
installed 2 home depot pumps ,w checks, bottom one on bricks,#2 in series just above ,1 pipe up and out,top one is back up. do have 12v 300gph attached to garden hose,in case of loss of power..
not a big fan of watchdog ,seen too many bad batteries over the years.
we put a full house generator in first thing when we bought the place.
power ain't an issue.
bad limit switch's are.
had this happen at the last house I owned. pump was fine. float arm on the limit switch went bad.

when the previous owner had the house built a subdivision was being built at the same time across the road and he paid the extra to have the lines run to the sewer system. kinda unusual out here in rural/farm land michigan. thing is you can't run a sump into a sewer direct pump. some sorta legality/environmental issue.
so what he did was put in the sump, which drains into the ditch out front of the house, and then had a drain put in the floor next to it that attaches to the sewer line. so if the sump was to overflow for whatever reason, it will drain into the sewer.

we have deck issues also.
previous owner shorted on the screws. didn't hit every joist.
surprising considering how well he built everything else (all the cabinetry in the house).
we had the house resided last year. was a big job, as I had the all wood exterior stripped off before hand.
$50k for 2 guys and 8 weeks more or less.
had the same company quote redoing the deck surface, benches and adding flower boxes in synthetic.
one man job on 2 weekends and I was gonna assist.
$40k.;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious;Hilarious
i laughed him out of the house.
everyone is trying to make up for covid related losses from last year.

@Paul B Thanks for the daily adventures. @WVNed Thanks for being you. @Mike from TN and @sp1187 Stay safe and dry. @ReefGrammie and @BeltedCoyote You are my sunshine. Everyone, have a blessed and awesome day.
Likely sponge and yellow sponge most toxins. Any sponge should be removed Outside of tank to reduce chance of toxins

Good morning folks,
Eye catching sponge, but will kill large mouthed LPS if ingested. (RIP dear fungia and beloved meat coral). Best to scrape it off outside the tank...and saltwater rinse crumbs off too!
Thanks for the intel. Had no idea that sponge was toxic - I always figured they were good filter feeders. I have wiped out about a million baby feather dusters, too. Way too much filter feeding happening in my tank! Vermetids, Feather Dusters and sponge - oh my! I may just leave those yellow sponge rocks out of the new DT. I really don't think all of the old rock is going to go over. I'll leave some for the kid buying my tank.

mike you're lucky you did that 4 years ago...just went through the same thing on a neighbors house we bought to flip or rent...all nailed, no screws or bolts...sagged so badly we had to pull every beam and flip them, add extra joists, posts and tecos, carriage bolts etc....2x6x16's cost me $25 a board to resurface it...around here 5/4 turns to crap in a couple years...it would have only been a couple bucks more a board to do it in trex but it was framed 24 on center
