Good morning. My heart definitely goes out to all you animal lovers with pet difficulties. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow that we put our sweet Maya down...I'm still struggling every single day. I went out in the backyard this weekend for the first time and it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I know it will get better with time...lots of time.

I hope you all have good bloodwork results, good vet visits, and temporary problems that are fixable. :)

Don't even get me started...I'm calmly trying to work this morning and the kids are upstairs screeching with the 2-year-old. His play screeching is actually pretty cute....the adults aren't quite so cute! :rolleyes: I went upstairs and shut the door....got the deer in the headlights look. Ummm, people DO work in this house...at least when they're not on R2R catching up on the good morning messages! :D

I am cleaning the big RO skimmer out back in a brut can with a hose and acid.

I look around and there is Jeanna's cat Olive. She had jumped or fell (landing on her feet) from the upper deck.
I cant pick her up because she will eat me. So I start yelling for Jill. I chase the cat onto the back porch and keep her there. Think old fat guy running back and forth chasing small cat.
Jill comes. She cant pic the cat up either so she goes and gets Jeanna out of bed. Jeanna works all night.
Jeanna gets Olive to come to her. There is a bit of blood. Judging by the cats sprinting ability I think the cat is okay.
Jeanna is upstairs now checking her baby over.
 
Though I read this thread daily i tend to stay in the background. I find great solace here following your posts. I have been having a VERY frustrating life dealing with incompetent individuals and decided that light stick management procedures will go into effect today.........That is where you snap them in half and shake the bijeezus out of them till the light goes on! To all, have a great day!
 
Painting is done. (Filter socks, not so much.)
Started getting the stuff back into my office and the front room that we had to refinish. You would think the dogs would be happy that things are going back to normal. Nope - it is stressing the poodle out. He actually barked at me until I accounted for all of the different doggie beds that go beneath my desk. Funny how they can be. They are like children that don't ask you for money.
We've decided to part with some furniture as we reconstruct. I have had a civil war era antique sofa that I have been planning to reupholster for 6 years. If I have not done it in 6 years and I need surgery, it's time that it blesses someone else. Goodwill, here you go. Same for a couple small chairs that we only paid $35 for. It feels good to let go.

Hi! Neat little tank! I like nano’s too. Watch those thermometers. They fail and are wildly inaccurate (or accurate until one day they’re not). Think about using an ink bird for your heater. $20 heaters are a big a pool shoot as $80 ones these days and an ink bird can be an extra backup.

It will be 5 years this November since I lost my best friend and sidekick Toby. He was with us for almost 17 years. I miss him and think about him daily.
Last year, I finally memorized him with this tattoo on my calve. That’s the spot he always rubbed against when he wanted to get my attention. Looks just like him!

Second post today for an update.


Just got home from the vet. Our little Snuffy had a stroke this weekend. Gave him a shot of steroids that will last for 5 days and if this stops him from randomly spinning around in circles in the middle of the room(one of the stroke symptoms in dogs) then we can put him on steroid pills and if not then this will be as good as he will get. And then this will be his new normal behavior. Vet said it doesn’t bother him as he doesn’t even know he is doing it. But if he stops doing any of these 3 things; walking, eating and going potty by himself ,then it time to say goodbye to him. And if he has had one stroke he will have more and each one will get worse. He is 15 years old now so he is an old dog. It’s just a matter of time now.
Picture is of him today at the vets office. He still has his Papillon smile, even going thru all of this.

That's all so beautiful! I'm waiting to get "the call" to pick up the urn. Should be in the next week or so. I will have to put it up for a while.

What a sweetie! Gosh, I so feel your pain right now. I guess it's all too fresh still. Heck, I'm sitting here tearing up as I look at the picture of little Snuffy. It's such a hard decision. Like you mentioned, it was time the day Maya stopped eating and drinking altogether. Such a tough thing. I hope and pray you have clarity when the time comes. We were so worried we wouldn't, but we did. Hugs for you and Snuffy. My dad had a dachshund named Snuffy years ago. He loved that dog so much! I know you love your little Snuffy.

Here's one for you Hanna checker people. I have the salinity checker and the alk checker...love them. I just received the calcium checker today. I had NO IDEA it was so involved. There is so much junk in that box! Anybody else use the calcium one? I'm already tempted to go back to my Salifert test kit and say to heck with this thing! Am I crazy? Does it look worse than it really is? I haven't really tried it yet. I'm still overwhelmed by all the junk in the box! I thought the Hanna checkers were supposed to make testing easier...o_O

HANNA Cal tester used 2x...FOR SALE... :p ..i'd rather use api /etc...o_O
