Got a crab. How bad?

What crab is this, and how bad is it for my tank. It has tripled in size in three months and the body alone is more than an inch front to back with the whole thing about 2.5”.

The last segment of its claws is long but with relatively tiny pincers.

That looks an awful lot like a spider crab.. I would sump him..
Spider crabs can be 3' leg to leg, but are normally found in temperate waters...

Just a decorator crab, pretty much harmless, although it might pick up small frags or rocks and carry them around.

Well, if it is a decorator crab it needs to go back to designer school or whatever they partake in. That or find better parents. Clearly it didn't get the memo or correct training

It comes from areas that many of our corals come from so it certainly is a good candidate.

Still does not tell me if I should worry or not.

I've haddecorators with some small and sedentary fish without issue.

I think it's pretty neat ! Keep an eye on him though. I don't trust "any" crab anyway. Except a porcelain . They are soo cool !

Thats what i mean by true crab, a porcelain is not a true crab.
