There's expensive ..... and then there's EXPENSIVE. I've paid north of $500 for a few fish (never for corals) but nothing even approaching $7K. Ouch!

This is the second one they've offered lately.

They had one on Friday that sold within the first hour or so ... but the market for seven-thousand-dollar fish is not large.

(Hey - at least the shipping's free, right?)

Wow, makes me feel cheap. After losing a few fish, I set a personal cap at $60 per fish. That's just way too much money for a fish in general and especially given all the variables of what can happen with them (ie not even making it through QT, having difficulty with shipping). Even if I was a millionaire I don't think I would do it. I just couldn't get that much value out of a fish.

Well, some people are good at finances, hard working, lucky, what have you - not judging. Residual income is an interesting beast just look in the lounge and some of the other toys and/or hobbies of us reefkeepers. 7k is pocket change. Heck, I still remember an interview with Kevin Costner back in the day with one of the local radio stations. For whatever reason one of the DJ's had this game he would play and ask their guests how much pocket change they carried. Costner said he didn't know, reached in, and it was around 3,500.00. Just putting it into perspective.

I think I will wait a few years for breeding programs to expand and hopefully lower that price to a reasonable level.
This is my thought as well. The POMA labs Conspics were even cheaper than the (assuming) wild caught one on Diver's Den.

What??? I will need a bodyguard and then a divorce lawyer .... I rather buy a new tank with the $7k

Well if you have those finances, I guess you won’t even notice it... LOL

A fish that expensive needs to have gone through a 76 day QT and guaranteed for 30 days [emoji848]

IMO hard core fish folks have way more expensive tastes than any of us coral collectors in any single purchase especially when it comes down to these exquisite fish(es)!! But ya can't frag it bro ... :D (just kidding)

Not sure about that one mate! Lot's of crazy prices for frags with stoopid names. I have certainly paid more for an unusual fish than an unusual coral - but I could easily have paid more for the latter. The difference, as you note, is that a rare fish remains a rare fish, whereas a rare coral, if adequately propagated, does not remain a rare coral.

Nice looking fish. A bit more then my budget allows. My most expensive fish was $80 the rest are all under $30.

That is almost 400 hours of labor at work for me....no fish is worth it...

But if someone has that kind of cash more power to them.

I get that some people have tons of disposable income, I just don't know that even if I did have that much I would drop $7.5K on a single fish. I can just think of better ways to spend/invest that kind of money, whether I was filthy rich or not.
