Got my ATI ICP test in

Mine was way too low low also. Keep that UV down below 50

So guess what? My par was way way way too low. 80-100 on top and like, 30 on the bottom. I now have it up to 300-400 on top, middle, 200 on top out to the side, and 100 on the bottom. I’m doing a 25% acclimation for two weeks so as to not spook everyone.

not sure if you mentioned this before...

which hydra model do you have?
single or multiple lights?
how high above the tank is the light?
what is the size of your tank?
and what settings are you running on the hydra(s)?

thanks!
J.

Hydra26hd running ab+ at 14 in over water. I’ve now got it running a custom setting with blues all the way up and whites down to 20%. I lowered the light by 4in also. Running in acclimation mode for a month.

34g display, 43g total. 24in by 19 by 20 display tank.
Also added a drop of lugols to address the super low iodine.

@Mattrg02 how are things responding? I've had a similar issue in my 30 gallon for the past 4 months or so. Mine is definitely not light related but I will be trying iodine out of curiosity. Hope everything is on the up and up!

My tank has done a 180 after upping the par dramatically like I did. All of my acros are encrusting and polyps out! Colors are coming back as well.

Been reading through this glad things are turning around.

Yeah, three years of this crap and so many lost corals only to find out my lights were way way too “dim”. Once these frags grow out really well, I’ll add another hydra26hd.

Some of mine would do that too. I had a lot of rtn. Once you play with the par meter and dial that in, start doing 25-30% water changes spaced 3-4 days apart. Then I would recommend 3 products. Koral Recover from Brightwell, KZ’s A Balance and RTN Destroyer from ReefGrow.

I can’t find much regarding koral recover. Why do you recommend it? I

The high uv from the hydra is stressing the acros
When my par meter came it showed there was only a couple spots on the top that I could get effective par for acros with the 1 fixture. The majority of acros energy/nutrition comes from lighting, not nutrients. If the lighting is poor, their health will be poor. That’s why the look dried and starved. The koral recover is an all natural/botanical in tank treatment. It’s awesome, but you need to get better lighting. I don’t think the iodine will do much if anything. Trust me. Your struggles are like dejavu for me, and we both have hydras. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.
I can’t find any good reviews on koral recover but yours. Any update on your corals?

Oh man....Blast from the past. I think those corals were the frog skin tort and another acro called tsa twisted sister or something like that. Yes they made a full recovery. I honestly haven’t used koral recover since bc I haven’t needed it.
