I got my first anemone for my clownfish tank. It seems happy, its just kind of hiding... how long will it stay in hiding? I cant imagine it picking this spot as its permanent spot as its very low lighting and cut off from any current really.

Anemones usually hide for the first couple days to adjust to the tank.
But your tank doesn’t look suitable for a anemone. They require a mature tank (tank is 6+ months old) with really good lighting. What lighting do you have ?
Also looks like your tank doesn’t have any type of wave makers/powerheads ?

I have powerheads they're on the other side of the tank and yes tank is mature. I just use phosgaurd to keep algae down and frequent water changes.

The reason for the comment is very little coraline algea. The rocks look very white. Very little growth on silicone.

Btas like some nitrates and phosphates. Salinity right around 1.025
Temp 74-80
Alk 8-9
Calcium 440 or close to that.
They also need stability.
Can you post your levels and your lights. We arnt condemning you or looking to beat you up. We are just wanting you to help.

How is your tank mature ?
What lighting do you have ?

Tank just turned 6 months old the other day. and Im not sure on lighting specifics. all my tests are perfect. I guess I was just wondering how long they hide for.

They can hide for a couple of days. Can you let us know about your lights.

Holy cow.... Everything was dark brown after my tank cycled. I put phosgaurd in the filter and the brown stuff was gone a week later. The rocks aren't really white they're tannish.
Salinity is 1.024
Temp is 79
Calcium is 440
Phosphate is 0.25
Alkalinity is 8
Nitrates are 5 (Which actually went down between yesterday and today and that makes sense since I add the anemone last night)
My light is a coralife light with 60 LEDS

I just fed everything a bit ago and turned the blues on and Anemone is on the move.

I really wasn't looking for criticism on my "white rocks". I know my tank is stable and mature enough for an anemone. all i wanted to know was how long they hide for.

I have been touch and go with btas. Some do great for me after a bit of acclimation time. Few days. Some do not. However, I do not have many now. This was when I kept them. For some reason I could not keep green ones.
I love the red you have. It should settle in a few days if happy.
When gets a bit happier you can feed it mysis. They usually like that. :)
Good luck!

6 months is pushing it actually IMO. Mine disappear sometimes for a day or two. Usually they emerge as two. Yours seems a little droopy too, but color looks good so maybe just adjusting. How much wattage are you LED's? What brightness setting do you have it at?

No one is trying to bash you, it's just typically in a tank established for 6 months has at least some algae growth and that would indicate a stable and established tank. Your tank looks like you set it up yesterday as far as how clean it is. Do you know what model of corallife light you have? Some of their lights are only meant for plants and soft corals.

Once it adjust to your water, (usually a few days)and lighting it will start searching for a more comfortable place to set up home. Unfortunately for me, mine always liked facing the rear of the tank. My clowns would never go near it :( Hope you have better luck with your new Bta.
