No knock or doorbell ring... Even when they’re late. It’s only live fish.

I have coral coming from fedex today. Hopefully my experience is a little better.
They were only a hour and a half late. Best it’s been from them in a long time. Even before COVID there late most of the time. I felt horrible my last fish order with FedEx was 2 days late and everything was DOA. I even went to the fedex hub to pick them up. UPS has never been late. I’ve had corals two days late from FedEx and they all made it. Good luck!

I’m with ya. This was my package a few weeks ago. FedEx sucks with live animals

I'm loving your post not because it is upside down - but rather it is from Pac East :)

OP - sorry to hear. Hopefully everything was OK and you caught it in time. I'll say that in my area we are pretty lucky with our carriers and their staff. They clearly read the labels and manage their contents according to livestock or dry. Even during the current world pandemic. Having said that I personally have not placed an order for livestock during C-19. My daughter did and bought me a copperband from LA/DD and a clam from Pac East. Both arrived on the same day and on time. I just do not trust over night when they no longer can commit to their SLA's.

In any case if everything worked out I would call the hub and let them know. Not in a mean way but just say hey, this was a live shipment and for future orders, if you place them, ask them to knock or ring the door. Not to drop and run to the next stop. They may be able to note your address. We had a driver who loved to put packages in our planter box as he felt it was out of the way. I didn't catch it one day and the next it was soaking wet. I called and the next day the driver stopped by to talk. Pretty cool.

Anyway hope your goodies are safe and sound!!!!!

I believe they waived the signature due to COVID.

This is probably true. I ordered a case of wine last week and normally it requires a signature. This one they dropped it and left. Happened a few times now.

Thank you. One of the RR vendors had some nice fish and I couldn’t pass it up. But I have been holding off on live stuff. How’s your copper band doing? I got one today. I’ve been wanting a pyramid butterfly also. But he came in DOA today. I’ve been looking over a year for one.

Sorry to hear on the Pyramid. I've always wanted one also or to try a trio of them. The copperband came in great condition and packed very well I have to say. Lower half of the bag was blacked out. Cold packs included to deal with the heat out in California. I think it arrived by 1030. It is small. I'd say maybe 2 inches. No visible signs of issues. I run a 15 minute Methylene blue dip then place in the display (I know - QT, right? I worry more about the copperbands health and delicacy so go right to the display).

Anyway my Lavender tang went right for it. Never had a issue with the fish, ever and it is a model citizen. However, it turned into a murderous poo head in a matter of minutes. The case was on for about an hour until the copperband found a place that it could navigate through. I left it this way for the day and hoped for the best. Next morning it was hanging in there. Another forum member suggested a mirror. I didn't have one oddly enough other than my wife or daughters compact but found larger candle tops that are mirror surfaced (thanks bed bath and beyond :) ). Anyway I used those and that got the tangs attention. Later that day I went to the Wallgreens and picked up a larger one. Next couple of days the tang was occupied and the copperband got out more. Eating mostly from the rocks that I can see not sure if what the others eat yet (mysis and brine). I am out of LRS so need to see if any of the stores have it in stock. Usually that works for me with stubborn fish.

Anyway a lot more than what you wanted to know but it is so far doing well. No signs of issues. Tanks is a mixed reef only 2 years old and I only have a few fish while it matures more. I do not believe I have any fish that will compete with it foraging. Scopas tang, coral beauty, matted file fish, azure damsel, and lavender tang - although I'm going to trap him and rehome sadly. Love it - but it is just too aggressive to new fish and later in the year I want to add some more.

Based on past FedEx experience with them not knocking or ringing the doorbell - I prefer they leave the package at the door. Nothing is worse then finding a "missed you" slip attached to the door, when they never knocked or rang.

I too am waiting for some corals right now. I'm working in the living room with the front door wide open... they're not going to miss me.

Good to hear it’s doing well. I fully QT everything the RR process. I’ve been through ick and then I did QT everything only to add a mandarin without QT. I lost 13/14 fish in my 245 mixed reef to velvet. I tore it apart to get the fish out into 7 QT tanks only to lose them anyway. So never again. My system just finished the 77 days last week. I’ve added fish back with no sign of any parasites. I have some antipsia in the QT with the copper band to get him eating. Then I’ll start the copper power.

I did. I’ve had DOA before with them and no issues getting credit. I took pictures and emailed them.
ah then you were the one who got it before i could i was just about ready to buy it and it said out of stock 10 minutes later lol sorry to hear it was doa thou

Yeah I agree. Usually my dog goes nuts and hears the truck. She was in time out in her crate though so I can’t put it on her ... lol.

That happen to me on a copper band on this order. But then they had another come in the next day so I added it. Let me tell you you missed out on quite the stink. Before I even opened the box I knew I had dead fish. Luckily it’s trash day today...lol. I’m sure the trash guy hates me... it’s not the first time.
