GoVols: Red Sea S-400

GoVols update up the day:
Did my weekly 18% water change and recharged the GFO reactor. I've always used Rowaphos and if it ain't broke then I'm not fixing.

Side Note: I recharge my Purigen reactor every six weeks with 500ml of Purigen. It's been a great system. I could push the Purigen longer but I don't wont the Purigen to turn into a bacteria bio-media so I change it out every six weeks.

So the last time that I bought he Purigen, I bought a bigger size to save money. On the first recharge all was fine just like the 5ooml bottles but on the second recharge of the 1000ml bottle (2 weeks ago) there where a lot more of the smaller beads settled at the bottom of the larger bottle that wants to float up and try to escape the reactor. So I will be going back to buying the 500ml bottles and pay a little more.

I used to re-charge Purigen but it's not like you get it back to 100% and it's just not worth the trouble but (lol) that's JMO

Going back to the AquaMaxx reactor. It holds in the Purigen a lot better than the Reef Octopus's chamber.

1) As you can see the AquaMaxx (Bio-Maxx reactor) is back online, suspending the Purigen
2) Coralline is taking back over the BB, foor
3) 1 shot shows that we still have the Arco crab
4) Started pushing two Giesemann (super-actinic's) with the two Red Sea 22k t5's, awhile back

Apex's ph graph for a calcium reactor

Well,
I did lower the Apex ph from 7.3 on and 7.2 off to 7.25 on to 7.15 off...
Because when I tested the ph on Thursday Evening the first test came in at 8.6 dkh and tested again and it tested at 8.7 dkh.
Then I tested the ph again right before Friday evenings water change and it came in at 8.6 dkh.

So, I lowered the melting point a tad and we'll see ;Wideyed how it plays out.

Any who, onto the the Apex's ph graph.

First shot when we were just letting the Apex do all the work at two Co2 bubbles per second.

Second shot after lowering the Co2 bubble to one bubble per second.

Now the Apex is still monitoring the reactor's ph but it's not having to turn on and off the Apex switch or the GLA's solenoid / that leads to less wear and tear over the long haul.

GoVols: Cal Reactor Update

Welp,
In one weeks time we have dropped .1 in dkh / cal and mag are still staying in balance.

That's good enough for myself and staying with the Apex's ph (reactor) settings as they are.

Still using the ole Red Sea "Blue Bucket" and just dosing up the alk with Seachem "Reef Builder" during the S-400's weekly water changes.

Reef still looking ;Wideyed good... ;Woot ;Woot
