Hate to break anyones bubble but coralife skimmers are pretty much junk, anything with a neck as small as these are will not handle any where near 300gals. These are pretty much a waste of money and i'm really suprised no one else has pointed this fact out from the club! Wish i had something positive to say about them but the words that come to mind are banned here.

I know that the older ones are not that great but I seen the new one in action and it works ok. I just got it for my frag tank for 60 dollars you can beat it. Even if is not really rated for the 300 gallons it's only going on 50 gallons total volume in my frag tank that I'm building. It can also be used as a back up. I'm not trying to sell this I'm just doing a favor for people on the club that might not have the kind of money to spend on a 600 Dollar skimmer

Try a Reef Octopus Skimmer that is well worth the money no matter which model you choose, They have 3 year warranty's on the pumps and perform as well as much higher priced skimmers in the same class and rating. I know this from having owned just about all of the ones out there and some that are no longer around. As far as being negative it's a fact that needed to be stated so people do not waste their money by unrealistic claims from coralife.
In the case mentioned he has stated that for a small tank this will do and i agree with him, But some people just may believe these claims they are good for up to 300 gals. JMHO

Bill I belive it will work also on a 300 gallon a company like corallife ain't gonna lie but here is a fact a skimmer is only a small part for filtration on a tank there are plenty of tanks running without skimmer only with algae scrubbers and no skimmers. And really I don't think the tube on the cup matters if you look at the new swc cone skimmer they are making the tube inside the cup follow the cone lines of the skimmer body so it gets smaller. But in the end to me is all marketing no one really knows the rating of the skimmer and if you can show proof on rating school me up.
