np bud let us know how it work outs and keep us posted from week to week :)

(I am saying this in a nice way)

Please refrain from making personal comments about other members. We are not going to turn R2R into a forum where people attack others. It is ok to disagree without personal attacks. Please go back and edit your post to reflect this.

I hope you understand what I am saying. Also please understand that not to often people loose posting privileges at R2R. Doesn't happen much, but it can when rules are broke.

Thank you. ;)

Well we all have done it before so no stones thrown from my direction. Just a reminder. Ok back on topic!! :D

Feel free to delete what ever you like including this but I stand by my comment and although I don’t think you will care I was called a name twice before retaliating in that manner. I thought the matter was dropped until I cam across your post. This is all I have to say and mean no harm this is a great place to share info and I don’t want to offend anyone or upset the gods or god what ever you prefer.

I am not going to argue with you. Your information was pretty much spot on, but when you make personal comments towards another member then it is wrong. Quote from you.

ignorant blabbermouth

I will not bring up oceans comments since he has edited and seen the reasons that I explained in my previous post. We try not to edit post here at R2R and that's why I allowed you to do so yourself. I don't really feel like having to baby sit adults and rewrite post.

I'm wondering if a tank can be cycled from the contents of a Rena XP canister filter that has multiple sponge type filters ranging from course, medium and a fine filters and the contents that settles at the bottom of canister? The sponge filters are wrung out to release all the debris of bacteria to be introduced into another tank. I refer only to a tank that has no red bugs, cyano bacteria or any pests what so ever. I'm talking about a very healthy and mature tank. In a sense it's blessing a new tank to activate the cycle. I know 30 years ago when I started up a 55 gal African Cichlid tank the LFS would syphon bacteria that was embedded in the gravel into a 5 gal bucket and what settled to the bottom of the bucket is prime bacteria and bagged up. The bags bacteria was poured into the 55 gal tank and allowed to cycle in a few weeks. Water testing was conducted and when all parameters were at zero then it was good to add some hardy African Ciclids.

wow i cant believe i totally forgot to add this, any once else feel free to chime in with past expericnes with thism but i used biozyme for the first week and i still use it once a week and its been giving me AMAZING results

A canister filter that is established would be able to start a new tank with out a cycle as long as there was very little bio load on the tank at first and your fish are added slowly. I would not disturb the canister filter just take it off old tank and add it to the new one.

Oceanparadise I’m not trying to start anything I'm just curious what are you parameters? Did you see a nitrate spike after adding the biozyme the first time ?

hoenstly, i was 18, didnt even own a test kit, i used in and in a week and a half i brought my water to the fish store they tested it and said it was cycled, i added a yellow tang that day, and didnt lose him, i would probably still have him today if it wasnt for a power outtage

Have you started cycling yet?? Any ammonia signs yet?? And as for the ghost feed or test fish comment, I suggest choosing one of the more inexpensive fish on your stocking list to try, because if you do a blue damsel or chromie and want to get it out, youre going to need a stick of dynamite.

LOL +1 on that have fun trying to catch a blue DEVIL haha those things are annoying

NO blue damsel if you want a test fish the chromis is the way to go. They are reef safe and I cant think of a fish they would bother. Why take it out if it lives let it stay

no havent started yet just trying to figure it out before it came time to set up. i did buy enough bio-spira today for only 29.99. not bad deal, so i think that is the way i will go!

Good luck with Bio-spira if anything you should keep a close eye on you tank if using it. I've seen it make a tank look like it cycled and then have the cycle start 3 week later. I do aquarium service work. If there is something out there that cycles a tank over night I've not found it I've tried every bacteria I could get my hands on and not found one that does what's promised. Most just throw things out of whack and some have made new tanks take 2 months to become stable. Bio-spira may work some time but I've never seen any thing proving it does and some saying I used it but I didn't test anything but my fish lived doesn't mean anything, I've heard it from more than one person but I've also heard about and had to deal with test showing it does anything but work. So good luck but remember Test Test Test and don't trust your lfs to do it for you.

im curious as why not let ur LFS test it? ABC pet city here where i live has some of the most know all people i have ever met, i would 150% trust them in testing. Now do u mean a chain LFS like petco or are you talking about all of them? THanks!
